Anybody have any special plans for the Fourth of July? Do you have family get togethers or other special events? Do you still set off fireworks? How do celebrate the Independence Day?

Stay home, grill a burger, have a mint julep. Just not worth it any more to try and get into DC for the big bang show.

Work. Overtime is nice. No fireworks here, which makes sense, given that the general western United States is aflame or at high risk of being so.

Hopefully our plans will hold. A couple invited the Mrs. and I to go up to the Hendersonville, NC for a July 4 family music festival and "people watching" :sneaky:. Supposed to be low 90's, so that's a little better than here. I say I "hope" the plans hold because our friend's mother who is in a nursing home has had to go into the hospital. Things seem stable, so I hope the trip is still on.

Stay at home, barbecue, swim and lay out by the pool, some top down driving, couple of friends... A nice 4th of July.

Best wishes to your friend's mother. I hope she gets better, and if not, may her days be peaceful, dignified, and respected by others. Many times they are not, sadly.

You are guaranteed to see apples in the food section, Hendersonville is apple country and they can make every kind of dish u can think of with apples. If you take I-40 you will pass my by my house (Exit 64), have fun watching the peeps:)

BBQ at home, maybe wash the car. Don't like to go out driving on drinking holidays. Too many crazies on the road.

Already watched fireworks, the big Madison show was sat night. As I Type this the earth is shaking from the second biggest Madison show wrapping up a couple miles away. Caught about half of it out my dining room window while catching up with y'all!
Tomorrow work 9-3, then go to folks house for dinner. Probably catch some of the smaller shows on the way home with the top down. Nights are the only time for top down driving right now. It gets down to the mid 80's at night!

Interesting you should say "nights are the only time for top down driving," Dave. In California I always drove my convertible with the top up during the day, just too hot otherwise! But those balmy nights in Pasadena and for rides up Angeles Crest Highway with the top down late afternoon or evening were great!

This past weekend went to ST louis to see Chrissys family. Did the arch n all that fun stuff. Had the best cook out ever at her aunts. Her cousin makes home made jalopenio poppers but instead of breeding them he wraps them in bacon and grills them. Her aunt has a pool so we swam during the cook out.

Today her friends have a pontoon boat rented so we are gonna go out on that and watch fireworks.

You went to stl and didnt meet jesda, gizmo, or myself? Jerk.
And you better have eaten pork steaks, gooey butter cake, toasted ravioli, Imo's pizza, or any of the other unhealthy stl only foods.

Lol. Hey I posted last week I was going to be in ST Louis but no one said anything. Lol. And although I wanted pork steaks, we did not have any. And on Friday my fiancÚ and her cousin n I ate at TGI Fridays by the stadium. Lol. But bc Chrissy spent the first 14 years of her life in ST Louis she took me to an ice cream joint Sunday called fritzers or something like that. Damn good. Her family is up in hazelwood so that's where we stayed. But we will be back there in september for a wedding. If you don't think I'm still a jerk in a couple months maybe we can all meet up then. Lol

I never miss out on at least catching the fire works. One of my favorite holidays and is Chrissys favorite by far. This is the time of year I miss having my jeep wranglers tho. I loved going out into the country with the top off and finding some random ditch to park in, far away from the other spectators, and watching them that way. That's how my dad took my sister and me to see them in his jeep when we were little. Fond memories. I'll have another wrangler eventually, and plan on doing that with my kids.

Got a ticket to ride the train into downtown on the 4th(commuter train is exotic transport in Nashville). This works out great because my house is within walking distance of the train station in Donelson. Plan is to meet up with a couple of buddies and watch the fireworks downtown from his condo balcony. Until then its stumble around downtown, maybe get something to eat out of a food truck, get drunk, and people watch. Might crash at my buddy's condo instead of taking the return train after the show, just take the morning train back to my house.

My neighbor will blow up $200 worth of fireworks, and I can watch that, plus the city's fireworks about a mile south at the riverfront park from their driveway. Although I live in a town of less than 9,000 people, since it's named Independence, they put on a good show.

Work was dead today because of the heat, we usually do pretty good on the 4th. I guess it is to hot to BBQ or anything out there. Sold 3 pools and a couple of plumbing parts and breakers. So, the people we had were glad we were there. Mostly sat around talking smack on co-workers.

Snapped this for Orconn and Chamus! My co-worker wears a kilt every ninth day and today was kilt day. They are of his own design and construction. Not a nationality thing just likes them.

Happy 4th all.

And it will most likely get worse as the day progresses...although, part of it is due to the incessant iPad corrections, the rest is margaritas and beer...sorry lol!

Dave, where do you work (I am supposing some sort of hardware store based on what you sold?)
Also, for the record, his name is spelled chamus.

Thank's. Corrected.
It is a local True Value Hardware store. Been in business over a hundred years last 56 in hardware. Same owner has 4 other stores. Used to have 7 all together but keep losing leases as Madison keeps tearing down and rebuilding anything that is more than a decade old. Getting as bad as Vegas. Three of the five left we own. Ours we have the whole mini-mall. So we're safe.

Well, since it is the 4th currently, I excercised my Jim/Josiah protected right to do whatever I want. I worked 14 hours, or open to close at the local Kmart. :yup: OVERTIME PAY SON! :excited: And now I'm visiting with some of my favorite internet acquaintences :D

My house is up on the rim of the valley overlooking the county, so I pulled up a chair by the pool in the backyard and watched all of the fireworks shows going on in the valley with a big malt, enjoying the warm weather.

My neighborhood fireworks show with a bunch of drunk people blowing shit up was as entertaining as always. :alchi: The city's fireworks display was pretty good, too.
