This may sound stupid, but is it possible to send private messages on this forum.
I've looked, but can't see a way to do it if it is possible.

Click on my username - does the drop-down box contain "Private message" ? It should - if not, drop down to Site News and post a thread to Admin requesting that your PM function be enabled.

Also, go into your profile and make sure your PM is enabled for all members.

I think you might need a few more posts before your PM privileges are enabled.

:moved:

You need 10,000 posts before you can PM, or you must know where to post site feedback and site question threads. :nyanya:

I kid of course. :)

Is there a minimum numbers of posts required to be able to PM?

Ranger

Yes. Don't quote me but I think it might be 20, but PLEASE don't spam post just to raise your count. It'll just piss people off and the Mods in that forum will probably just delete them and your count will go back down.

Yup, either 20 or 25. It use to be 10 when I signed up.

Thanks for the replies... not to worry, no spamming from me! :)

There is a time restriction as well, not just post count.

I don't know how to PM either? There is no drop down to allow me to select PM either? If someone in admin checks these posts is there any way to make it where I can PM someone when I might have a specific question for a member. Thanks in advance!

Top right of this page.
Welcome, Mark Edward Morrison Notifications My Profile Settings Logout
Click on your name.
Upper left side of the page you should see Send Private Message

Either :yeah: or you could click on a person's name, like Ranger. Then you'll see a drop down menu with different options. Sending a private message is one of them.

When you receive a PM, you'll see it where Ranger described it. Upper right corner of the screen, currently it says "Notifications". When you receive a PM, it'll say "One Alert" or something like that and it'll be hightlited.

When I click on Ranger I get SHARE, REPORT, QUOTE? Those are my only choices besides a square that I can put a check mark in? I promise I am pretty computer savvy...

Thats odd. Well then post two more times in this thread, then try again.

Maybe the count is 30. If that is the case and it works after you've posted 30, or 31, let us know please.

That IS odd, but he did something right. I got a test PM from him.

Anyone know what the actual post count is? I still don't have the ability to PM anyone...

Check your settings and be sure that you do not have Private Messaging turned off.

last i heard it's not an exact post count (i could be wrong and it very well could be restricted based on having a minimum post count)
you're getting close if it is

There is a time restriction as well. Supporting members get instant access to private messages (I think).

Ranger

I don't know what the time limit is, but he should be well over it I would think. As for post count, :noidea: I thought it was 20.

I pmd Mo about it.

Doesn't he check in here and the Mod forum periodically?

JimmyH

Not that I can tell. He's too busy dealing with Larry and Curly.

The admin checked your account, and there should not be any PM issues. If you are still having problems try logging out, clearing the cache on your browser, delete the cookies for this site, then log back in.
