What's the normal running temp? I run at 195-239 depending on if its hot or in traffic, should I be worried about this? I replaced water pump last fall.
If I'm correct the second fan won't turn on until 235 out something ridiculous. Turn you ac on and see if it drops quickly. If so your second fan isn't coming on until then. a tuner can change that setting.

Turn on ac and it maintains 231-37, it hit 239 yesterday in traffic...side note....if I restart after only a few mins off, it'll read 249 and infotainment center tells me to let idle, then quickly drops to 233-5
You may have another issue. The high temps bothered me at first but I never got a idle engine message. May need to change thermostat and coolant to start.
My car runs anywhere from 186-226. While moving I am always in the 186-200 range, depending on how spirited of the driving. The 226 is rare and only if sitting in traffic and then the fans cool it down. Your 239 temp seems high to me. Not to high jack the thread, but has anyone tried a 165 degree thermostat and if so, is there any tuning that would need to be done to the car? I also have the Alradco aluminum radiator.
I ran a 180 in my L67 Regal and beat the hell outta it and it never ran hot...I bought some pellets and I'm gonna start with a flush, t-stat was new just before pump...heater core? Floors are dry, or maybe even temp sensor?
I guess my thermostat must have been changed. I just bought the car, so I don't know all of the mods yet. I run about 175. The highest I saw was 185 with an outside temp around 90 and the ac on.
I'd swap to a lower stat and have the fans come on sooner. That's a bit too high for my comfort zone. Well I'd also do the radiator but I have a bit of an advantage there.
With the OEM radiator my car used to hit 220+ with some frequency, particularly in summer stop and go traffic running the AC in the Houston heat. Once I installed an aftermarket aluminum radiator I never see anything above 195 F, no matter what. I still run a stock thermostat to prevent any cold weather running issues even though Houston has not had a Winter since 1989.
My car gets up into the 230+ temps in stop and go traffic, definitely worries me, but never received any warnings. For those that have temps that keep below 212 at all times, any concerns regarding the moisture not boiling off/out of the oil?
Even though my coolant temperature stays below 200 F, my oil temperature runs around 222-225 once fully warmed up. It does take almost 10 miles of urban street (35 mph) driving to fully warm up though. I watch my oil temperature because a banzai charge with cold oil is a sure-fire recipe for a spun bearing on these engines.
I've seen mine up to 220 for the coolant, both on the street and on the track. The oil is usually comparable, but on the track I've seen it as high as 260.
Just did some real world tracking to be more certain - when I'm crusing the highway (both at 83 & 68 degree weather) the coolant ran at around 195-199 while oil was in the 195 - 205 range. I then let her idle in my garage and within 5 minutes the coolant temp had risen to 235, aux fans kicked on, coolant temp peaked at 237 and then started to drop. Oil temps after idling for 5 min were in the 220 range but climbing. Seems to be normal based on others reviews.
