I know this is slightly outside of a V general discussion topic but since we're all huge car enthusiasts... anyone going to the F1 race in Austin Texas in November? Just bought my tickets in advance before they are available via the F1 website... can't wait to check out that new European style race track and hear 18,000 rpm's.

I would love to go.. I've been following F1 since 1993... I will be watching the broadcast most likely from my living room.

I will be there and cannot wait. I bought 2 PSL's with tickets back in February for the main grandstand (I don't want to hear about how stupid everyone thinks this is.) I am a huge F1 follower and don't miss a race on Speed. I plan on booking a house through VRBO in the next week to get that taken care of as well.

I went to Montreal 2010 and it was an absolutely great experience. Great post.

The only F1 race I've ever been to was the ill-fated 2005 USGP at Indy.

I'd be booked for Austin already if I could find decently priced flights.

I agree on the hotel issue, Austin as a city is not ready for this at all. Full tickets sales are not on sale yet and I can't find a hotel inside 30-50 miles for under $500/night for a two star hotel... I guess this is part of being a diehard fan... I might be sleeping in my V... Hahah

Go Alonso!!!

I'm in grandstand 12...

Just got tickets today with two other guys. A hotel room was reserved last year when the race was announced. It should be a blast, but I have little doubt logistics/travel is going to be a cluster though this first year.

Wonder why tickets are expensive?

Wall Street Journal - "Bernie Ecclestone's daughters spend $150 million for two houses. http://online.wsj.com/video/202CFC67-86BC-4451-885D-2E788A463051.html?mod=wsj_article_tboleft

I have to say that Bernie represents the worst part of that organization. In fact when that whole argument when down a couple of years ago, I was hoping that the teams were going to all leave and start their own thing... One of the teams biggest fight was that the tickets were too much for the races and it's becoming out of reach for people to attend these events.
