Just changed the A/C air filter big difference how much colder air now car is pushing in my face... Also the factory foam that isolates engine heat from entering Ac system has dried up over the years so added more foam to the housing I think ac is even colder now.

Here is a pic with part#

Nice. No picture or part number came through though. I have a 2009 and would like to do this also.

I had mine changed about 2 months ago. I have the tech's looking at my AC today because when I first start the car the AC has a real nasty smell for the first 10-15 seconds and I have to let the window down to get the odor out. I thought changing the cabin air filter would help. Is this filter different from the cabin air filter?

Yeh hahaha that's why I did this the smell was bad at start up well before I installed a new filter I turned on the heater and emptyd a whole can of dettol disinfectant and went into car and changed air direction from dash to foot area then to on top of dash windshield area so the disinfectant would travel everywhere

Also check the condensate drain. Any condensation left inside the evaporator case will leave you with a very musty/nasty smell when you first start the car.

The service tech's sprayed and cleaned the coils and sprayed somerhing on the filter. So far so good. I will suggest checking the drain if this fails. I'm glad to hear this isn't an isolated issue.

Done. You could say mine was overdue! Picked up a Purolator In Cabin filter for $21.49 from Pep Boys and got a $5 mail-in rebate too. Took 10 minutes to install. Remove (3) 7mm screws in passenger side cowl. Remove the filter lid and R&R filter. Thanks guys!

I asked my dealership to change mine at the last oil change...said they inspected it and it didn't need changing. Wanna bet it will only need changing once my free maintenance is over? To own a GM you have to be a do-it-yourselfer (at least around here you do). I'll check mine myself. Where is the condensate drain?

How many miles are on your car that it looks that dirty? My A/C has been smelling lately and I have 15,000 miles. Does anyone have link to purchase this online?

I so rarely use my A/C that mine is probably OK at 37k miles. But I'll change it anyway...

Hey Jim, do this as soon as you can specialy if you have kids there was Alot of green and brown power that's been growing there for years.. I'm sure Alot went thru the system so spray some strong disinfectant first then add new filter.

My car has 31k. I just bought my V last month and there are no records from the dealer where the car was serviced, that shows it was every done. I would do it even if my car only had a lot less miles, regardless. $20 bucks, so me and family can breathe cleaner air works for me.

Better yet, they're cheaper online. I got the Fram scented one for under $20 shipped on E-Bay. The other ones went lower than that too.

Just knowing how awful Fram oil filters are, I avoid them altogether...

Mine wasn't too bad at all, so the previous owner must have done it.
