: Whirlwind trip through NYC and the Lehigh Valley

So, some of you may have noticed (or maybe I told you and you knew) but I was on vacation from June 1st - 4th.

I went to Manhattan to visit some old friends.

Friday was travel day, met one friend up near Times Square for some drinks and food at the Beer Authority. Then met some of his co-workers a few blocks away at Keenes - an old looking steakhouse and bar. They have tobacco pipes hanging along the ceiling and some pipes in glass cases labeled with the names of their famous owners dating back to the 1800's.

On Saturday we drove into north NJ to the Sussex County Fairgrounds for the 23rd annual Crawfish Fest. Good times were had by all.

Saturday night we drove to Bethlehem, PA, near Easton and Allentown, and stayed with anther friend.

Sunday we took a trip across the Lehigh Valley to the new CocaCola Field where the Lehigh Valley IronPigs play AAA baseball.
The IronPigs are a Phillies farm team and they were playing the Pawtuckett RedSox (aka PawSox) in the third of a four-game series.

Back to NYC on Sunday night for some great Dominican food (no pics of that sorry) and rest for the big day on Monday.

Monday was the 'tour the city' day. We hit Bryant Park first, then went to the "Top of the Rock" (the observatory atop the Rockefeller Center) then to Eataly, an Italian market mall with restaurants for a bite and a pint of cask conditioned ale. L. A. Burdick chocolate shop was next after a quick stroll through Madison Square Park. Then we walked west through Chelsea to The High Line, a green walking space above the streets of the city that used to be an elevated subway track. From there it was back to Penn Station to catch the 7-express towards La Guardia.

All-in-all a great 4 day escape with weather that seemed to just barely cooperate.

The following is a collection of photos I took along the way (captions will be underneath the images - the full size images were used, the forum auto-resizes them - for the full effect view the source or whatever right-click option your browser has to see the image in it's full glory)

And you didn't call me? :crying: Just kidding.
Did you meet Darlene Rodriguez at the Rock? Nice!

Lehigh Valley is essentially what the kids these days call "The Shit". Hands down better than the entire country (outside Pennsylvania) rolled into one and multiplied by a billion. Fact.

There are other areas of PA I prefer though.

yeah it was a great time, great food, great places

thanks guys... sorry I bailed on you after posting this

it felt great to break the monotony of the local routine and get away for a while

gotta do it more often

btw, all pictures taken w/ my crappy iPhone 3GS and most were enhanced with the camera plus app ... the panoramas were taken using the 360 app (except the first which was done w/ AutoStitch)

 Excellent pics. Glad you had fun, vacations are always too needed, too short, and too infrequent. :D
