It caught my attention because it takes place in Wyoming and I happen to know way too much about that place. When the Sheriff mentioned going to Wheatland to tell a woman her husband was dead, I immediately knew which direction he was going and how long it might take to drive. Like many towns in Wyoming, I stayed there for a night.

It's basically a cop show/western. The Sheriff solves crimes, gets shot, shoots others, etc. It reminds me of Justified except the protagonist is grizzled, drives a Bronco, and hates cell phones.

The ratings were good so it looks like its sticking around: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2012/06/longmire-hunts-down-a-ratings-record-for-ae.html

I watched it. Bout the same as other cop shows except the scenery is better.
How would he get cell phone reception in the middle of nowhere?

Even in Sc. there are plenty of areas that we can't get voice service.

I don't buy that coverage BS. Drive 5 miles north of Laramie and you're in a dead spot.

The series is based on Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire Murder mysteries, as some may know. Walt is from a fictional town of Absaroka, which seems to be somewhere between Gillette and Buffalo. These books are my all time favorites, aside from C.J. Box's books, about a WY game warden. I haven't watched the show mostly because I'm afraid they likely have screwed everything up, as oftentimes happens with book to film transformations.

What's so wrong with Wyoming, Jesda? :sneaky: Just cause you're brown... :stirpot:
