I have a 2008 Escalade AWD with 55000. I am curious as to when I should change the oil. I have gotten different advice from different dealers or service managers....
When should I change my oil? Should it be every xxxx miles base, if so how much 3000,5000,7500
How accurate is the oil life monitor? Should I base my oil change on % of oil life remaining?
( Some dealers suggests to wait til it gets to below 30%)
Finally, what oil should I use? Synthetic, Synthetic Blend, or regular
Thank you for any advice...

people tell me crazy...but...maybe i'm crazy that why my car reliable..
i alway change oil in every 3000 miles and synthetic mobil 1..or amsoil...
that why i don't need to mess with piston slap or burn oil...even with Junk Northstar..
in my opinion..oil is cheap...change it rather than pay money for fix it...

Follow the Oil Life Monitoring System. If you want to be on the safe side, change it when it's down at 25% but you can easily wait until it tells you to. The engineering and research that went into that system is top notch. I personally know of several people who have well over 200,000 miles on GM vehicles and followed the OLM from day one.
Here's more info on the system.
Hi, Does anyone know the oil monitoring DIC for 2008 Escalade, is factory set-up for Synthetic or Mineral oil monitoring?

it's set up for whatever the owner's manual says to use
a cheat you can use is to check the oil filler cap ... if it has a mobil1 logo then the owners manual will say to use GM4718M oil (most of those are full synthetics)
that is, unless someone changed the oil filler cap
and those cars and trucks that do require the syn oils can use dexos spec oils now

2008-2010 Escalades call for Mobil 1. 2011 and up Escalades call for Dexos1 Synthetic Blend AC Delco motor oil since GM has to pay for it. Your 2008 Escalade came factory fill with Mobil 1 5W30. Continue using Mobil 1 5W30 with the best oil filter you can buy and you can then rely on the oil life monitor.

FYI- Mobil 1 full synthetic is on the dexos approved list also. Can't go wrong with Mobil 1 either way.
I use mobil 1 5w/30 extended performance which guarantees an oil change interval of 15000 miles. I follow the OLM and change when it is at 20-30% left.
