I've had my V for about two and a half years and finally made it out autocrossing last month. The Minnesota Autosports Club puts on a two day Autocross Novice school. Saturday April 28th was a couple hours of class room and then Sunday was all on course with instructors in car.

In the morning session I think I got about 7 runs. First was 31.8 secs best was just under 31 secs I think.
During lunch I got about 5 ride alongs with instructors. Two of which were in my car.
In the afternoon session I got about another 7 runs and I think my best time of the day was 30.23 secs.

The car did really well. The course favored smaller cars, but I thought that my times were fair. One of the people I met had a lowered C5Z06 with cam/headers/exhaust... and his best time was about 29.8 secs, so I'm happy with my times. My V is basically stock, but I'm loving the lowered look in some of the pictures I got. Take a look for yourself.

This picture makes me think I could take this thing off roading.

That sounds and looks like fun. I am getting mine ready to take to VIR. I raced Enduro Karts on the big tracks, Rockingham. Charlotte, and Atlanta in the 80's but have never done this. I am looking forward to some good instruction and a lot of fun. Any advice?

There is a really good post on here about mods and preparations for road course track days. As far as autocross there is t a whole lot of prep.

From what I've heard the two biggest improvements that you can make are 1. Good Instruction 2. Seat time. No sense in starting off with bad habits.

That looks like fun. I have not done auto-x yet but I signed up for a high performance driving day June 2nd at Firebird International in Tempe AZ. I can't wait. Did you buy CG lock? I hear it is the best for us amateurs. I am ordering mine today.

I borrowed a CGlock from a friend for the day. Worth the money in my opinion. Afterwards i bought my own, I got the one that Yooper was selling in his massive sale thread.
