I need a new rack and pinion and a ebay search yields odd results.

I see that you need to make sure you get the right one if you have FE3.

Im 99% sure this (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cadillac-CTS-2003-Power-Steering-Rack-/200572647325?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2eb30fb79d&vxp=mtr#ht_1569wt_1185)will work just fine correct?

Also if you knew the AC-Delco part number id appreciate that.

VIN:1G6DM57N230111158

Thanks guys

my parts catalog is saying that you will need to get a power steering pump to go along with the new steering gear
no reason is given

here's the direct quote: "GEAR, STRG (INCLS 2-10) (W/VIN 1G6DM57N930137370 AND PRIOR MUST ORDER PUMP 25756609)"

#15850018 - steering gear
$753.75 - list price
$537.05 - your price

#25756609 - pump
$325.08 - list price
$184.79 - your price
(you can get $10 back if you send your original pump back in the new pump's box as a core)

let me know if you have any questions,
chris

Just curious, why do I need to do the pump? Is it common that people do the pump or is it a GM thing where they have to sell you the whole shebang at once?

it doesn't say ... i'll see if GM can tell me more if I call in and ask ... it is definitely not common to need a pump when doing a rack

----------

so my parts help line didn't really have any extra info

i would assume that the change has to do with the amount of pressure needed since that's the only connection the pump has with the rack/gear

you could try to get by without using the new design pump but i would guess that there would be problems (steering wouldn't feel right or something)
