I wanted to build a subwoofer box and wanted it to match the red wood trim in my escalade. Any ideas on what wood to look into or best color or stain to use? Thanks

I'm a woodworker.

I believe GM states the trim is walnut burl. Very expensive as solid wood, but it can be purchased as veneer and laid over MDF. I think the OEM trim may ne faux wood, but I'm not sure.

As far as stains go I'd say use a mahogany gel stain first. Gel stains are easier to control color with and most "mahogany" stains are roughly the right color, but you may have to adjust from there.

I'd just finish with a few coats of oil based polyurethane varnish, but an exact match would require some epoxy to give that "encased" look...which doesn't look as good IMO.
