: Tow Hook, where to find one locally? Or make one, whatever...

I searched and searched..found out very little. I need a tow hook by Tuesday PM so that I can winch the car into the trailer instead of doing the acrobatic exit through the window.

So...what size bolt is it, or what do I need to pickup at lowes/home cheepo to accomplish this?

Get it from Lindsey Cadillac not to bad. Wouldn't want to trust a hook from the depot with your car. Go thru the window for now. Good Luck

Through the windows will not work for my setup. I'll trust a hook from HD or Lowes all day long if it's rated to the weight I'm using it for....just have no idea on size/depth, etc.

Sorry I couldn't help but I think for certain year and front or back it gets very specific.

I just ordered a tow hook from my dealer -- I would not trust anyone else - except may the option from D3.

Does anyone know the thread pitch and length? I'm in a bit of a bind here and need to fab something up pretty quickly.

I just measured mine

2.0 mm thread
16mm dia

This should work:

www.mcmaster.com
P/N = 3040T35
Load Limit = 3,525 pounds
$25
usually one day shipping

I'm not sure that eyelet from mcmaster will work, the factory one is 10" long, but the thread/pitch solves my problem, I'll fab something up tomorrow with a grade 8. THANKS!

Ahh... Malibu beat me to it.
Thread length is approx 1 5/16" if you're interested.
Pics for anyone else that's interested in fabricating their own

Mine won't work. OldRoadDawg's last pic solved it. The length of the McMaster is only 76mm. Not long enough.

I got the longer rod, 120MM?, and ended up with a piece that I used to put the new ATI balancer back on with.

Could you provide a pic of your solution? I'm also looking for something in a hurry (next ten days or so).
