05-11-12, 07:13 PM

I want this in my garage. now. Wish I wasn't a poor ass 21 year old college kid, I'd get this in a heartbeat if I had the money or a lucrative music/sports contract.

I find it hard to believe that with a proper V8 engine Cadillac couldn't sell enough of these to make a profit.......

Forget about Jaguar XJ, Mercedes S and Audi A8....... Those looks give Bentley and Rolls Royce a run for their money.

the Standard of the World returns in 2015....... :cool2:

I am ready to place my order please!!

Does that say ELDORADO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

05-11-12, 11:41 PM
UH-OH, don't tell my wife,,,,but it might be "goodbye Escalade. "

05-12-12, 03:25 PM
I would pay much more than what I do for my Town Cars to have one for livery. Maybe Cadillac would reimburse me for all the rich people I drive for buying one...

05-12-12, 07:03 PM
I really really want this car! But Cadillac will probably never make it :(

05-12-12, 07:25 PM
Why shouldn't they produce these cars, with all the money they have blown bringing the current mediocre crop to market these should be a snap. All they would have to do is a chassis modification. Bring it out with a hopped up V-6, I don't care, then when the sales projections look good bring back the V-8.

These cars would be the rightful heirs to the fourth generation Sevilles and last Eldorado that really began the Cadillac comeback. I might even shell out for a new one (GM!), I don't think I can wait for the "Used" market!

05-12-12, 08:09 PM
They should really bring back the Eldorado and Seville nameplates too. Stop chasing the Germans with the letters like cts dts cts ats and on and on

It was bad when Cadillac never made the Sixteen but it's going to be worse if they don't make this. How can you design a car this beautiful, show people and never make it? I really, really, REALLY hope this is a good look at what the future brings for a big Cadillac coupe and sedan...

05-13-12, 02:16 PM
Doubting fools...

05-13-12, 09:28 PM
Whatev. Not w/o good reason...

IF Omega happens, they won't have the balls to make it look like the Ciel. And they'll puss out of making a proper coupe that doesn't look like an Infiniti G.

It will look like a bigger version of whatever the next CTS looks like. (Probably the ATS' big, big brother...)

I will restate here, however, that even though the sedan is great -- that coupe above would shake the foundation of the Earth if it ever did happen...it is that awesome...

(Of course, they basically copied the proportions of the Bentley Brooklands...which, of course, is all anyone would need to do...)

The biggest challenge in making the Ciel a reality appears to be the headlights. Otherwise, the car appears to be good to go. They really should make this happen. It is universally loved. I think even more so than the Cadillac Sixteen was...

The Oh-May-Ga is coming.....

Now that is just amazing! Both the 4 door and coupe look bad ass! See, we all here can agree on how gorgeous looking the Ciel is, yet Cadillac still for some reason doesn't at least try to pursue this design or a possible production version. Cadillac's main guy or GM's CEO needs to seriously green light this project for production.

I mean why would Cadillac bother with making wonderful concept cars, if they didn't consider actually building a production model? The Sixteen was great, but we all knew that the company would never truly make one for the public, since nobody at the top seems to take risks. I believe it's the culture of GM, there's too much control at all levels of the corporation. I bet you have 10 guys at the top management that would love to build the Ciel and would have the process move forward, but 3 others that are above them that will never even consider it.

As of now, no auto maker has built or designed a luxury car that truly truly stands out, Cadillac is playing it too safe IMO.

I really like the styling of the 2012 Jaguar XJL sedan. It's actually nice size car and looks different that most cars on the road today, what's great about it is the long wheelbase version rated at 124 inches for a smooth comfortable ride. It has a V8 in it, and the car is priced in the $65,000 range. Cadillac could easily build the Ciel with a V8, price it in the $60,000 to $80,000 price point. I think it would easily sell more cars then a BMW, Lexus, Benz, and the Jag just based off the styling alone!

The Europeans got it right, while GM and Ford have become wussies of late. I mean if some wealthy European walked into a Cadillac dealership and asked the salesman straight out if they had full size RWD car with a V8 in it, they would have no answer for the man, that customer would most likely be in shock knowing that he expected Caddy to at least have one Full sizer to offer customers like himself being how big Cadillac cars used to be. The man would just walk out of the dealership disappointed and head straight over to the nearest German luxury brand dealer to buy what he wants and expects from real luxury auto makers..

I remember one auto maker that broke the rules.

05-23-12, 05:04 PM
Even the guys at Top Gear love the Ciel...

05-31-12, 10:05 PM
Man those are smoken hot, easily the best looking design for a full size car out there right now. That means GM will not build it just like the Sixteen.

If I had the money there is no question I would get one of those, it has been a very long time since I got excited by a car.

Who or what was the source for the drawings? GM or a independent designer?

I love this thing, two doors or four.

Hello Katie

I think I read someplace that a GM exec said they did not believe they had an engine to match the amazing looks of the Ciel ready to go. I believe just the opposite.

If this beast was designed to utilize the LS series engines then you have a huge assortment of some of the best engines ever created ready to go. This could give you a more pedestrian model or V models. GM already makes the worlds best components on everything else from the Magna powder steering to the magnetic ride shocks and transmissions so except for a viable chassis, GM is not lacking much. The Corvette and Escalade pretty much support the business case of using an LS engine.

I am old school and dont really have a requirement for a DOHC V8. What I look for in a car like this are the following. Most other people who can afford a car in the DTS range that I know are the same.

Long term reliability

Here is to hoping Cadillac gets back to building true masterpieces.

I have downloaded as many different wallpaper-size pics of the Ciel as I can find and have been alternating them as my 27" screen wallpaper. This is ONE BEAUTIFUL AUTOMOBILE. Unfortunately, I read a few days ago that Cadillac has decided to NOT go any farther with production of the Ciel. Glad I have my pretty photos to remember it by. :crying2:
