Hey guys, had the wheels and the drop on the car for sometime now, never had a chance to share with you guys.

Running 21" DPE SP5, 21x9 fronts 21x11 rears wrapped in Toyo T1R 255/30/21 and 295/25/21, lowered on KW V3. Blacked out trims, Lambo orange brakes with Brembo stickers.

I took it for alignment, but they could not really do much, do I need a camber kit, or try another shop? So currently running a negative camber in the front, almost 2degrees, very little in the rear. Currently I am playing around with colors on the brakes and center caps seeing what I like.

Looks sick, how's it ride with the coilovers?

I personally feel a black brake and black center cap would look great with the black grill/vent look you have going.
Unless, you were wanting to keep the more unique color scheme going with the brakes/caps
The car looks great with those rims and lowered

Looks great. I've been thinking about getting some DPE CS5s.V1 in the same size.

Rides great, very smooth. The damping is adjustable, I put it on a soft setting.

Wow that looks great, is there any suspension noise with those coil overs?

I love the wheels, but I think the car is a little too low.

No way! I want mine that low sooooo bad! My last V had a terrible suspension noise though, I tried to buy coil overs at least a dozen times and could NEVER get a strait answer if they would make noise when slammed like this. If I can get a car this low without making noise I'm all over whatever coil overs he is on!!!

Yeah, too low.

Correct, V3s :)

Sure there is.

Never!! When I do track the car I raise it, for cruising around I like it as low as I can for daily driving.

Why?

alex310
05-13-12, 02:26 PM
Why?

Why do I raise it for track day? You need a good amount of shock travel when you are tracking.

It's all subjective man.

I'm into American trucks (Ford, Chevy, Jeep) and some people don't see the point in lifts. I like functional lifts for wheeling; better clearance on trails.

As for lowering; not a fan of low riders my self, but I'm not one to bag on anybody for spending their own money how they see fit. However, I am genuinely interested if lowering does anything good for performance? Is it purely for show or is there functional benefit?

that white

very nice. great stance too. i prefer nothing less than tuckage on a beautiful wheel combo such as this. mine is a clear illustration of that. :)

Not really, -2 is still within factory spec. It is the toe that effects the tires.

Exactly, do you mind posting your alignment specs?

Was behind this guy in a slammed G37 coupe. The douchetard was slowing down and swerving around every manhole cover and bump. It was ridiculous.

My '09 V is the first car in 20 years I haven't lowered, so I appreciate a nicely stanced car.

But when you're going for look over function and it looks like the top of your tires are your bumpstops, that's annoying.

I think this set up is ideal. I cannot believe the coupe can fit 345's. Hat's off to you for working through this.

I still have a great amount of shock travel for street use, my girl drives this car sometimes, and she has no problems at all, the 21" wheels kill the gap between the wheels and the car making it look lower then it really is, I have a lot more room on the KWs to go lower. Daily driver for me, I live in Los Angeles, no problems at all.

any noise or squeaks with the coilovers? And did you install yourself?

Are you able to have 2 or 3 other 160LB + passengers ride in the car with you when it is that low, or will the rear tires hit at all?

Yeah, I have had the car full with 4 people and trunk full with bags on a 120mile trip, no problems at all. Correct offset wheels do wonders!

Cool, thanks for the info. Do you know if when the KW V3's were installed if a spring compressor was needed to remove the old springs to reuse the factory hardware?

I don't think anyone makes camber kits for the V?
Can the front take a spacer?
IMO love the orange do the wheel centers in gloss black, super mean look.

I will do suspension when someone makes an edfc type module to adjust dampening from iPhone or ashtray mounted device.
One of the few low offset slammed Vs I've seen so far!

"big Jim why"
Because it's his ride, just because you think it's low, he might think it's perfect.
Your ride looks sweet brother, now I wouldn't lower mine that low because I love the big girls, after dinner that baby would scrape every man hole cover and pot hole! My girls are thick

LOL, that's the same reason I haven't lowered mine yet!

On dpe website it has your car listed as 20" wheels.. Is the company misrepresenting the car? It seems you know too much about it yourself to be wrong. Please give offsets if you can. Im going 11 in the rear of my v.. And would like to give my shop a reference point to start with in fitment.. I also must ride Hellaflush style... Your v looks great.. But you must be from cali.. Or Miami like me to love it! Go heat!

21" wheels look stupid on there and totally disproportionate. Car must ride like crap. Did you disable the magnetic ride control for the coilovers. How does that work? I can't imagine well.... just my opinion.

Could not disagree with you more. 21" is the perfect wheel size for the CTS-V, in my opinion. It's a big car. The stock 19's are too small (and yes, I still have stock 19's... and I think they look ridiculous on my wagon).

On all your blacked out parts, what did you use to have them painted black? I've seen guys have them painted by body shops as well as using Plasti-dip.
Cheers,

I run DPE 20's and love them except they are a b*tch to keep clean. Why isn't there something spray-on-rinse-off that cleans these types of wheels?

DCV
08-03-14, 08:03 PM
Armor all spray wheel cleaner does just that...

thebigjimsho
08-14-14, 08:20 PM
And very soon your expensive wheels well be peeling and dulling.

I use Armor All cleaner on my Town Car. Little scrubbing and everything comes off. But the wheels well eventually get stripped down. Not a big deal but I would never use it on my V...
