: Code Reader/ Reset Tool

I just had to get an error code read, and this is a BIG problem here in the UK as there are only 3 Cadillac Service Centres in the entire country!

Is there a reasonably priced consumer reader that can read and reset codes, and where do I find the list to actually look codes up?

For info, my code today was a Mass Airflow Sensor Error which my dealer reset as he does not think there is any problem, just a false code? It would be really useful here in the UK to be able to check my own codes, and only make the journey to my dealer when it looks serious, as this cost me a days holiday/vacation just to have it reset.

Advice appreciated,

Almost every code reader on the market reads only engine codes. If you want to read transmission, ABS, or body codes as well you have only a few choices less than $1000. Have a look at www.autoenginuity.com (http://www.autoenginuity.com).

It's a real shame that this car doesn't have a built in code reader like my 2002 deville DTS did.

A decent engine reader/reset tool would be a good start....any recommendations?
