Vagon looks great!

How congested is The Dragon? It's on my bucket list, but I've heard it's un-driveable at times, due to it being on everyone else's list too...

You can get a good run most anytime . Just wait for low traffic. Week days, early mornings are best. LEO is more present on weekends.

Last week was MINIs On The Dragon; the 10th one. It was crazy. We took the wagon instead of the MINIs as all our friends we see once a year wanted to see it and ride in it. I even gave the MINI USA head of social media a ride she won't forget.

I live approximately 4 hours from The Dragon. It is not the strip of road it once was. TN State Troopers have taken the fun out of every inch of The Dragon in TN. TN started a crackdown about 3 years ago when several bike and car enthusiasts had accidents and 2 deaths occurred back to back. Fontana Village and other businesses that rely on these enthusiasts have taken a real hurting because several people, including myself, don't make trip(s) to The Dragon every year. I thought the crackdown would have ended after a year, but TN realized that The Dragon is a very good source of ticket revenue. NC has also started to catch on.

Visit these websites for great spots to enjoy some curves.

I personally recommend The Diamondback and The Devil's Whip. Plus they can be done in the same trip. I also recommend Hwy 221 between Grandfather Mountian and Blowing Rock.

I've been to the dragon for a weekend twice. I think of the 20 or some runs we did, LEO was there 18 of those times. Still had fun, but it's controlled fun. The last time I went with the quattro club They (LEO) gave us the headsup on where they were sitting and played it out very simply; No radar jammers, No super-high speed runs.

It's still decent if you're looking just to stroll around at a moderate speed, but there's no more tripple digit playing around anymore. I don't have the balls to do that with 100+foot drop offs anyway, so it didn't bother me.

Back in the heyday my Wife was a regular and she was considered the third best Dragon driver in her MINI Cooper S. Third only to 2 sport bikers. Her best time from the Overlook to the Store was 10:30.
