Hi! My 2004 CTS-V with 87212 miles is making some unusual noises at higher rpms. Other than the noise, the car runs very smoothly (aside from my worn engine mounts, and the clutch rattle!!!!!!!!!) In the neighborhood of 4500+ rpm, I hear what SOUNDS like electricity arcing. Quick pops. You know? Anyhow, the acceleration is very smooth and powerful. I get no engine codes, I can't see anything visibly wrong (that I know of, I'm no mechanic). Any ideas?

I had this happen a couple of times. Really intermittent though. Discounted it to bad gas.

Probably just injectors. They tick. do you notice it most when you're at a drive-through or in your garage, and the walls allow you to hear your engine more than usual.

I would hope he would not be at 4500+ rpms at a drive thru window. I heard mine at wot top of 3rd.

I changed fuel to 93, and it cleared most of it...run a can of Seafoam with 91 or higher fuel and see if it clears...I'm still experiencing this intermittently aound 4500 as well, but not as bad as before..
