interesting isnt it ? :cookoo:
So which is the most advanced engine ? The 4200 being newer id say it is , that is unless you consider the 320hp rear drive northstar .....
Maybe front drive transaxel limits kept northstar equal with the 4200? i forgot the limits of the 4t80e again

They need a car application of that engine to really test it out......SUV's are heavy and cumbersome....id love to see a RWD GM fullsize car come with that engine standard and an LS2 as an option.....I think the 4.2 would be a great base engine for the RWD monte carlo when it arrives.

That engine would be sweet converted to diesel. Then GM could start more ventures into the new market for it.
We test drove the GMC Envoy when they first came out, that engine is pretty smooth... and has the classic slightly raspy sound of an inline 6. I wonder what technology they actually copied from the Northstar.

Well with Fords new 4.2l diesel for the F150, converting this engine into a diesel may be an option but i doubt GM would do it....

seems like a nice enigne.....
... they never mentioned Fords 4.9L. 300cid I6 used from the......... 60's? until 1995.... low on horsepower, high on low end torque, and many, many people say it is one of the best truck engines ever made.... they can't be killed.... I thik they killed it in '95 becuase it was too old of an engine to spend time updating it for the new emmisions and OBDII in 1996...
If I was getting a truck, I would consider the 4200...
... they mention the Bravada a few times... that was Oldsmobiles version of the Blazer.... and there is no more Oldsmobile... so how can they still be making a Bravada? and I don't believe the lack of a V8 killed the Blazer... in fact the 4.3 V6 was a killer in the small truck... and the Blazer was always selling very well.... I think it was that GM wanted a change....

Remember what happened the last time GM converted a gas engine to Diesel? I don't want to see all that new found respect flushed down the toilet again.
