Hi All,
The wife said today that she cannot answer the phone using the steering wheel button, and must use the button on the mirror. We were thinking the SWC button used to work, but doesn't now? Is that something that we can program, are we stuck with a dead button, or were we just dreaming that it once worked?

Mine actually works when you call onstar/virtual advisior but does not work for me to disconnect! Weird button all together.I dont think you can program it into the SWC! Maybe a warranty issue!

Mine has stopped working all together. Called OnStar advisor from my cell advising that all my buttons are dead - no phone, no customer service, nothing. So now I have to bring it in to the dealer - some computer issue according to the OnStar rep. :banghead:

If you can live without it dont let your dealer touch your car..they may make it worse! Trust me!
My steering wheel phone button will answer a call, but not terminate it. I have one of the programmable wheel buttons set to terminate a call.
This reminds me so much of where I work (refinery)... They are so into installing the latest high-tech equipment (mostly by government mandate), yet not a soul can fix said junk when it breaks so it ends up taking up space and doing nothing.
Next Q: Did anyones' wheel button ever work "correctly" when new?

On the 2003 models you can answer the phone via the steering wheel button. The 2004 models you can't. My family has a 2003 and a 2004. I confirmed this with Cadillac, different hardware in 2004.

On my 2004, I can initiate a call from the wheel button but can not terminate a call or answer one, without pushing the white dot button, on the mirror.

This is true on my 2004 also. The 2003 for some reason is different. I would like to be able to answer the phone from the steering wheel.

I can terminate the call in my 2004 CTS if I press the steering wheel button twice in quick succession. If I press the button once I can enter an extension number for an automatic switchboard.
