: Ready order new V Sedan or Wagon - Need help deciding!

04-24-12, 12:55 PM
I'm ready to order a new sedan or wagon but am having a tough time deciding on the pros/cons of each. I need some help with the decision. I've been planning/saving for years so I will tend to overanalyze this decision. Due to the rarity of the V, I've never been able to see both up close at my local dealers so it makes comparison pretty hard. I am planning to order it with a manual and no roof. Probably either black or thunder gray.

1.) Stereo sound of coupe vs. wagon. I'm really into audio and am wondering if the speaker/sub placement affects the sound quality of either.

2.) Performance. I believe the wagon is 200 pounds heavier. Being a performance guy, can you really feel that difference in performance or handling? I don't know of a review that tested both at the same time and track.

3.) Rear headroom / rear seat. Any notable differences? I have clients that need to ride in it. I also have twin 2 year old girls. It might get some care seat action too!

4.) Sound. I'm assuming the exhaust is different?

5.) Anything else to consider?

6.) Two-tone seats. The dealer did have a V coupe with the black/tan recaro seats. I thought they were pretty cool but didn't see them in the cadillac website. Do the normal recaros have that same suede?

Thanks for any advice. The dealer can't answer any of these questions to my satisfaction.

Sorry posted this in the wrong forum. I meant to post in the 2009+.

Wagon is going to depreciate faster.

Why do you think the wagon will depreciate faster? It is made in such low numbers I think it will maintain its price.

Wagon is going to depreciate faster.Wrong. None of the V2s have been depreciating badly, like the V1. The Vagon WILL be a collectible down the road, too...

Agreed. I've been watching used V prices ever since they came out. The V2 will be a sought after car because of it's performance/luxury combination. If one sees a wagon it will be a sasquatch moment, "Did I just see a V wagon?". I get this with my E55 AMG wagon because they only imported 200 of them. If I didn't love my AMG wagon I'd be all over a Vagon right now but I'm shopping a coupe.

Lawl at the it will depreciate faster comment. Just the opposite. Being that the car made only in the later years of the v production you are going to see more resale value in both the coupe and the wagon vs the sedan. People can get a sedan from 09 but for a wagon they will at least have to get an 11. Its all a numbers game, there are simply way more sedans that will be on the market in 5 years then wagons or coupes. That alone should answer your question.

The wagon rules!

Especially if its a manual Vagon...

I got the 12 Vagon and would do it all over again, again and again.

I was a dyed-in-the-wool Ford owner for 50 years until I saw a picture of the 2010 CTS Wagon. Ordered one soon after orders were being taken, September 2009. A year later I did it all over again and ordered the V-Wagon. And, I would do it all over again.

Cool then...

Cooler now.

Don't get the wagon. I have a 2012. I dont want the productions numbers to high. But if you must have it. Go to TRUECAR and get a great price. I ordered mine and it took 2 months. I would wait a year.

I ordered the sedan with a manual in 2010 and certainly have no regrets whatsoever. The car has performed flawlessly (with the exception of needing a replacement a left rear wheel sensor) and has not exhibited any of the issues found in some Vs.
That being said, if I had to do it over again or had another chance, I would have waited a year to order the Vagon - also with a manual. What an incredibly unique vehicle!

Just wanted to hop on this thread to say I enjoyed the wagon owners' enthusiasm and all the feedback! :)

If I had known there was going to be a V wagon, I would have waited. I almost dropped my deposit for a 3.6DI wagon as it was. Having family is the key, or in your case also use for other passengers and possibly their stuff. Not very much peformance difference, if any...

Here's another reason to get a Vagon; you can fit a full 6 foot ladder in the back alongside a hand truck.

Ditto for me, I have a 2011 Vagon and would highly recommend it without reservation. Also check out Top Gear comparison of the Coupe vs. Wagon at the track. Guess which won? The Wagon!

Wagon love....had there been a Vagon in 2009 I would have strongly considered it. If I get another V, it will be a 6MT Vagon. With Recaros this time.
