: Upgrading Non-Navi to Navi

So I guess I bought one of the only 3rd generation Escalades without a navi system (although it has a DVD drive?) and I want to upgrade to a navi... In my last car I had a Pioneer Avic head unit and was pretty happy with it... I was also considering maybe upgrading to the stock Caddy navi so I could keep use of the steering wheel buttons and it would have a cleaner look...

Any suggestions?

Go with a stock unit. The look is crisp and let's be honest... It's a Cadillac. You could have bought a tahoe if you wanted to pimp out a gm suv... It's your cash but I'm just saying

I bought and installed a Alpine INA-w910 and im very happy with the unit, very accurate nav and sounds great, also kept the steering wheel controls using a pac module adapter...very easy to do.

Is it as simple as plug and play or does the dash harness need to be replaced?

I would call your local gm dealer and get it priced if your looking at the stock unit

Wow... For that kinda of money I don't blame you! I love my stock unit but its not worth 3 stacks. Come on GM let's get it together

At the time the only truck near me had no nav and pulled the trigger knowing I would change it out.

Someone here recommended a seller on ebay. I don't think it was sold as new but looked perfect and works perfect it was $1000. But when I go to sell I think its a big deal to have the stock screen compared to the ugly aftermarket ones with the dashboard kits that look far from stock.

It was the person I believe

I recommend them fast shipping was packed well looks good had over a year now. You send in your VIN and they pre-program so it doesn't lock you out when you try to turn it on the first time and have to go to dealership and pay at least $100 even if they know how. Mine worked right off the bat no issue ever.

I did the gmx-550 at the same time since everything will be out already
