Cruising ebay, I saw this engine up for auction. It is supposed to be a a 7-year old (in storage, never used on its intended project) Northstar Crate engine. I will be watching the auction, just for information purposes.

That is very interesting, but from what we all know, I think one with properly repaired heads might be even better... Of course with a crate engine on a pallet, you could pull the heads and put Norm's inserts in it before it goes in the car. Wow, that would really be something! Wonder how long it would go.

Auction ended with high bid only $760, but reserve not met.

I don't blame the seller on that call.

Cheers,
Steve

Gonna get it Vince? Freight shouldn't be too bad since you're on the West coast. I bet that engine cost him around $4-$5K.

I'm waiting for someone to notice that the engine in question is a model year 2000 or later version.

Gave Tim Carroll a heads up, he's gonna buy it. It'll get studded

It looks like it's a 00-03 engine.

Spoke with the guy on the phone, he says its a 97, but he cant see the stamping on it because of the packing its in, he has it in his shop, unopened. Tim and i are swooping in on this.

Vincent,

If you make the deal, do I get a 'finders fee'?

Cheers,
Steve

right on, I have one just like it posted in classifieds here...I noticed that too...the crossover is 2000 or above as the crossover on the '97 was straight across with out the throttle body housing...sounds like you may know how to identify??? sure appreciate any knowledge you would share in that ...

The engine in the picture is not a '97 guarantee...

The crate engine will have a factory generic VIN derivative stamped or etched on the small pad the the front right side of the cylinder block - right at the block/halfcase seam.

L37 is the 300hp version (STS, ETC, DTC), LD8 is the 275 (SLS, ESC, Deville).
