I use the tape player on the Bose HU with a cassette adapter to connect to my Iphone for music.
The cassette adapter or any cassette for that matter will not drop into the HU. Has anyone sent their HU out for repair to a quality shop and can make a recommendation.

Thanks so much

If that's all you use the tape for is to listen to music from the iPhone I recommend forgetting the tape player and plug in a different way.

Either replace hu which can be expensive and a lot of work

Or

Buy this: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_19571_iSimple-IS77.html?SearchClickout%5Bquery_id%5D=8351166&SearchClickout%5BIgnore%5D=1

Just buying the adapter is easier and most likely cheaper than any other choice. Plus the adapter above can charge your iPhone too.

The manual for this devise says hook to power and ground. Do i just tap into the red and black wires on the harness. Or is the something different on the 93 bose HU

Refer to this diagram for your car:

Ground for sure is black. The instructions I believe will tell you to connect to your accessory wire which I believe in your car is yellow.

You are 100% correct. According to page A9-9 of the service manual the wire connections are on the larger of the 2 harnesses. Black ground, yellow ignition/acc.
