I had the bright idea of getting one of those motorized mirrors, out of the newer caddy's, so i went and got one..my car had the standard mirror. Now I want to hook this mirror up, when i went and got the 'new' morror, I got the harness, it has a tan wire, a black wire, and i think it used to be a red wire (its kinda pink now). Doed anyone have any clue as to how to hook this up?

any and all help is appreciated. thanx.

I did that before. One is for power one is for ground and one is for backup lights. I didn't do anything with the backup light one.

I just saw a post here the other day about the same thing and I think it said what the different wires do. Do a quick search and see if you can find it.

Hey, I checked the manual and the circuit diagram was available. I scanned it and loaded it up on my cox site. I had to reduce it a little, but it should be readable if you zoom in on it. Hope this helps. The file is located at

It looks like the Pink goes to the fuse block
Green goes to the backup position circuit for reverse.
Black goes to ground.

Not the compass mirror, I got the mirror that adjusts itself when a car's headlights shine onto it at night. just a lazy luxury i guess...

DJ:

I an interesting in your mirror application. Which car model and year did you get the mirror from? One of my '94 Fltwds. is a plane jane and only has the standard or manual rear view mirror. I would like to get an automatic mirror with map lights if I can find the right one to fit, etc.

thanks

The wire for the back up lights is there to automatically return the mirror from nightmode so you can see while backing up.

well i got my compass mirror from ebay for 30.00 with shipping it looked new and was from a newer 00 buick. I was surprised at the condition i guess they really dont ever get any damage mine did not even have one scratch maybe it was luck.

Heres one 3d left darkens and has a compass for about 40.00 auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7937995999&category=33699#ebayphotohosting)

grey colored rear view (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7937963060&category=33699#ebayphotohosting)

from a deville (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7938276632&category=33699)

this one has onstar might be a good deal about 40.00 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7937905744&category=33699)

Ill say what surprised me most about the compass is the accuracy its not like the cheap hand held ones this is as reliable as it gets it onlys requires a little reprogramming when going out of state for vacation etc.

My '88 has the automatic mirror, I love it. You adjust the sensitivity to your liking and presto, no more annoying blinding headlights (one of my pet peeves).
