: Getting ready to pull the trigger... need some opinions on a few local cars

I decided that April is going to be the month for my V, so i'm starting to look seriously at a few local options. I'm trying to avoid making more than a day trip to look at anything, which is limiting my search... all the best deals seem to be out West!

There's a couple of good options somewhat close to me:

One is an '05 with Stealth Gray exterior, tinted windows, 67K-ish miles, looks like it's otherwise stock. Not sure of the interior color, but i'm ideally looking for a black interior rather than tan or gray... buyer is asking $19.5K

Another one that's very close is an '06, not sure of the color combo. He claims it still has warranty until '12 (maybe up thru the end of the year?). 76K miles, with headers, Magnaflow exhaust, intake, asking $21.5K.

The last one is an '05, black-on-black, with black rims... sounds like the seller murdered it out. Catback exhaust and intake, with integrated radar detector. 67K miles, asking $23.5K.

Option 1 is my frontrunner right now given the mileage and price, along with the color, but the '06 is very local with the right mods and has the better diff. LS6 vs. LS2 doesn't really matter to me.

What do you guys think? It seems that the first car is the one priced most 'right' in the market, but the second car probably could be talked down a bit.

Take a look at both and really look into how the owners each took care of there car (maintenance records, condition of interior/exterior, etc.). In the end i would buy the one that looks like it was taken care of the best (between option 1 and 2).

Where are the cars located. If feasible have a current V owner help you check them out. But them a beer/coffee !

Yeah, I agree with the other guys. If I was V shopping again, I would look at stuff like Motor mounts, diff mount and overall condition. 10k miles isn't a big enough difference to really matter.

Local for me is the Detroit area, but my folks still live in Cincinnati. So, i'm looking near southern Michigan, west/mid/north Ohio, northern Kentucky, and east Indiana.

Might take a look at the one with headers this weekend if it's still available... still need to read through the what-to-look-for thread again to brush up on things to look for.

Have you driven both an LS6 and LS2 powered V? The LS6 loves to rev.

No matter, #3 is overpriced...

Saw this one on craigslist. Might be more than you want to spend, but it's well-modded and has very low mileage. It's in Almont, which is too far for me:

Then there's this one that's lightly modded and has a warranty. Says Royal Oak which might be doable for me:

There's one more in autotrader priced at just over $16k with 76k miles. Seems low, though.

PM me your email.

I have a 06 V I am considering selling. 57k ish miles, tint, black on black, and completely stock otherwise except for HID fog lights. Located on the westside of Indy. I have to work this weekend but may be able to squeeze in a showing of the car if interested.

Actually, I live pretty much right across from where you all set up shop/BBQ during Woodward!

The Almont car is *very* tempting, but out of my price range. I'd love to have a S/C setup done for me, but it'd be too much car for a daily driver. The Royal Oak link you posted is the one I referred to; it's definitely an option. I was ready to head up to take a look at the one on AutoTrader for $16K, but I took a look at the service history for it... it's had a lot of issues, including 3+ radiator replacements.

PM is on its way.

randomprecision, you have PM too!

EDIT: I guess I can't PM yet!

I went to Columbus to get mine. Also located in the Detroit area. Searchtempest is your friend.

How long does it take to be able to PM? I can't find the rules about that.

I'd look at the warranty history to see how many rear ends and motor mounts have been the car, might shed some light on how the car was treated.

Or you can wait a few weeks and mine will probably be up for sale. Nevermind, I'm in So. Cal.

I think you have to have 20 or 25 to PM, so go post whore some stuff. ;) The middle of the week or next weekend is probably going to be best for me.

3+ radiator replacements.

That would not worry me one bit. The V1's had a number of bad runs of radiators with leaks.

Post whoring starts tonight. Busy next weekend unfortunately, maybe we could set something up for the following weekend? Until then, look for a PM from me.

Drove home late last night on Woodward Ave., plenty of rice grinders out playing. Made me *really* wish I had something with a bit more gut than my Vue.

I found decent deals in Cincy, Cbus, and Chicago so I'd extend your radius a bit. You'll find something nice for the right price if you open up the area a bit.

ok. I'm not in any real hurry, just something I've been exploring a bit. When your PM opens up message me.
