Install went smooth this morning and truck rides great, almost factory ride, I used spindles in front and springs in the rear. It rubbed a little bit with the 26's but 10 minutes with the heat gun and no rubbing :cool2: hope you guys like it and kudos to the mcgaughys kit, VERY high quality.

looks really good, i was thinking about doing the same to my EXT, what tire size are you running, and what mods if any are needed for the air ride? and what all had to be heated?

Looks really good. What offset are your wheels and tire size? I want to lower my ext with 26's but am a bit shy because of the possible bad rubbing.

Thanks everyone, tire size is 305-30-26, the wheels are Lexani LX-9 26x10 with a custom offset...(they where blanks and the shop drilled and milled them, I believe its close to 35mm but in not 100% sure I would have to check with them.) It will rub like a Mother**** when you first dirve it but it will let you see where you need to use the heat gun, its very easy, I just used aviation snips to slightly trim a little off the inner splash shield (not visible when wheel is on) and heat the rest in, it's self explanitory if you just do it, trust me, very easy.

On the front it sounded real bad but its just the two front lower clips that hold the shield in place toward the front of the car, remove them and no more rubbing, even at full lock :)

Im very happy with the outcome, the install was smooth and easy, truck feels great, and rubbing issues where way easier to address than I expected.

Ya I'm rolling on 26 with same size tire but a 25mm offset. I think the offset is going to be a probelm for me. Your offset is just right for minor rubbing...10mm more will really push the wheels into the liners on full lock. I may just bite the bullet anyways.

Ride looks great..Did you have any problem installing the spindles? I have a kit with the 2" drop spindles and the top ball joint stud touches the axle cv boot, so I didnt end up finishing the install. Did you trim the stud at all to make it work?

Yes
[I installed the same kit on my 07 Tahoe and had to trim the studs a bit. McGaughys also says to bend the self leveling bolts..........Bad Idea The truck was very bouncy in the rear. I ended up making custom adjustable arms to fix the problem. I had some rubbing with just 22s, U2 rims with a 30 offset. Sorry I can't enter a pic[/I]

I didn't have to trim anything on the spindle stud...mine is 2wd but I would have if I had to, easy fix with a grinder. Adjustable arms...I cut and welded mine instead of bending them, I'm curious as to what you did to get better ride quality? Please explain.

You can get a 2/4 drop instead of a 2/3...it will be level, and the amount of triming should be the same.
