hello i am new here just getting into the ctsv and looking to purchase one thanks

Stealth Gray, 2005 Cadillac CTS-V, with only 65000 miles. Beautiful condition, incredibly clean, and loaded. 5.7 liter LS6 and six-speed manual Tremec T56. It boasts a sport-tuned suspension and huge four piston Brembo brakes on the front and rear wheels. This V comes with upgrades, including the 2006-2007 updated stronger rear differential and half shaft design, installed by the dealer under waranty and tasteful modifications such as fast 90 intake, headers, short throw shifter and performance lowering springs with a custom tune boosting the output to about 450hp.

whats this worth what would be a good buy?

20k. Most of the bad stuff the car came with has been upgraded or fixed

Except for the MM's and Trans mount

drummer22

so 20k max? it has brand new mm's

wcryan

for me.... I would only pay 20k max

if the MM's were replaced under warranty, they are gonna shred again. Creative Steel has very good aftermarket MM's which would fix that problem

Stealth gray is a rare CTS-V color. The modifications and tuning that he has give it a lot of power and cover a lot of the "expensive" modification categories that many V owners eventually choose to do.

65k miles for an 05 is on-par with a "lightly used" car. If it's in really good or excellent condition than I think $22,000 would be the max. All depends on what the seller is willing to let it go for.

Well guy won't budge of 20 so I buy that or silver stock one with 25k miles he wants 20?

Also there's a 06 blue with 50k for 20.

wcryan

go for the lowest mileage one. As long as it is a decent price

drummer22
03-10-12, 01:30 PM
That's what I was thinking go for the lowest mileage one but how much should I pay for a stock v the one is 04 25k miles probably get it for 20. The other is blue 06 so bigger motor with 50k miles for probably 20? Then how much would it cost me to do mods like the one I been looking at from my first post?

MM and trans mount= $300. Labor $2-$300
Headers= $600 Labor $2-$300

06 should have a better diff, and uses the 90MM TB

The intake on that car isn't cheap. I'd do 22 on the other end with headers etc.

Trying to figure out what I should do if it's still available by the 05 that modied with 65k miles for 20 or buy a stock v with less miles for same price and mod mine as I can? Would it be better to buy a 06 being bigger motor and better rear end vs 05 or 04?

I always buy stock. I just bought my 2004 Silver V with the light tan leather interior, 197 produced in this combination, with 46,000 miles for 16.500.00. Mine had not even had the skip-shift installed. Now I will do my own research and modify the car the way I decide. Half the fun is creating a car that becomes personal to me.
I also, always, make sure the car has a clean Carfax. Personally, I would go for the lowest mileage car if the Carfax and colors are O.K. Hope this helps.

Ok thanks also theres a car that is really clean it's a 04 silver v stock car has 97k now but at 70k gm replaced the motor with a brand new vette crate motor so car has 97k but new engine has 25k with receipts showing why and everything it had a 10k warranty on new motor from gm which is up now but he's asking 16 should I stay away from this?

Like I said, I like low mileage and original. But that is just me. Documents are easy to fabricate, original is not so easy. Just my opinion.

drummer22
03-11-12, 07:11 PM
I would agree. Well see what happens with the 05 modied one with 65k otherwise I'll look for a stock low mileage one and modify it as I like. Any advantage or disadvantage from 04 05 to 06 besides engine and rear end?

FWIW, buying a totally stock car and then modding it is going to be your most expensive route. The first one mentioned with headers, intake upgrade, newer diff, shifter, lowered, new motor mounts... is a LOT of freebies for the same price. The "bigger" motor really won't get you anywhere faster, except maybe a gas pump.

Even just the parts cost make that deal better than the others, not to mention labor and hassle...

Very true I agree I know but a lower mileage one would be even better but 05 with 65k is not bad and I love that color and is the rarest plus all the upgrades for 20k. Otherwise i would buy a lower mileage one stock for the about same price and then have to modify it would be way more money. So obviously would be better to find one i like already modified. Also I dont drive that much cause I have a company car so wouldn't put alot of miles on it I would just drive it on weekends.

Don't be afraid of mileage with these cars. The things on these cars that break do it early. The engine and trans are good for the long-haul.

04 v silver very nice and clean 39k miles It's lowered with
Eibach springs.and a jet performance programmer. what this worth?

GDPossehl
03-18-12, 10:45 PM
That does look clean... however an 04 that clean with that mileage probably means it has the original differential. That may play a large role in price for those "in the know."

drummer22
03-19-12, 06:52 PM
Whats a good price on this car?

drummer22
03-19-12, 08:17 PM
What needs to be done to rear end? And how much?

GDPossehl
03-20-12, 09:24 AM
There were updated rear differentials throughout the 4 years of V1's. The 4th version was the latest and greatest... though still not indestructible. The 1st version, found in the 04's was the weakest and a couple episodes of wheel hop would rip them in half.

The cost is subjective. There are used units, new units, and labor of course depends on where you are or if you decide to do it yourself. It's a pretty straight-forward install.
