Hi all thinking of getting a '94 deville with the 4.9 liter V8 motor I believe caddillac put this motor in the sedan deville from the mid '80's through the the '93 deville which was the last year for the deville before the '94 redesigned model debuted. I did notice that they kept the 4.9 liter V8 which seems to me that it was a good motor but I am looking for input from people here with caddys with these motors. Also are there any trouble spots to look for when looking at a caddy with one of these motors in it? thanks
My mileage is too low to really swear on my life, but I can swear on others. :D They are VERY good, reliable motors and have been called the lowest repaired motors, (lowest warrenty claim) and the best Cadillac engine ever made by reliable sources here.
Do a deep search here and see what I mean. :coolgleam
My '92 had 125K on it when I traded it and had no problems with it.

I have 104k on my '94 Deville, and other than an oil leak, it's a great engine! I get good gas mileage out of my Deville as well.

I had no problems at 88k, and when i wrecked it, my motor was still running. Supposedly can last over 200k. Strange combo Aluminum block and Iron heads, but by far the most reliable caddy motor ever. LT1 does not count.

Had my '94 awhile now, and this engine is beautiful. Almost at 160k and she still purrs. Mind you a little fuel injector cleaner once a month makes it run a whole lot better (mine atleast).
Comparatively the Northstar's that were put in the later model 94's were riddled with problems. Buddy of mine had one and when the head gasket went, GM refused to change it; had to have the upper portion of the engine rebuilt. So yea im glad I have the 4.9

19k on mine so far....
without repeating alot of stuff... do a search... on really nice engine...
...4.9 was avalible in the '95 and '95 BASE DeVille.... in the Concours, both years, the NorthStar was used.... the reason why the early gen N* has a bad rep, are lack of maintenace.... the coolant/speical pellets needs to be changed every 2rys/24k.... if not, the head gaskets go... simple as that
