That is very unusual. I have the same colour, 59 plate, love the car but always a little concerned of a bump or breakdown. I would love to keep mine past the 3 year warranty but planned to get rid in a years time due to concerns. I am thinking of buying the one on e bay for spares and keeping mine for another 3 years. Will keep my eye on it.... have contacted the seller for more info.

if the clutch hadnt been an issue I think i'd have been tempted with it being the 180bhp engine

Very difficult to price this car which was first registered on 31/3/2008.A Saab recon auto box would be in the region of £2K to £2.5K.Who knows if a Cadillac one could be obtained or if a Saab one would fit.Perhaps worth min. £5K max.£6.5K if repairable. My guestimated price min£2K max£4K.Any other guesses??Hope your enjoying your new "Cadillac"180 S7ORMP!

anyone bid on it ? went got £1644

02-11-12, 03:23 AM
Hi All,

I thought about this a bit as I have the same colour wagon also 59 reg same as Billy's .. probably the fact that it closed at 6 a.m. ish put me off cos I am not a morning person :)
Anyway at 1644 it's not a bad deal so it will be interesting if the new owner shows up on here! In the olden days if an auto box was slipping you could tighten the belts and that would fix it but these day's who knows??

Interesting though thanks for the heads up Mazuk

BTW what happened to your write off S70???

Insurance firm have passed it to a firm in Bury but wont tell me anything more as they say it doesnt concern me !

I'd have liked to get the electric seats out of it in to the 9-3 but that aint going to happen now !

Just had it Hirsch'd this morning and OMG ! awesome !

if youi have TTiD BLS see if you get get it done !!!

02-11-12, 09:48 AM
When you say 'Hirsch'd' have you had the suspension upgrade?

I'm wondering whether the BLS can have the same upgrade?

02-11-12, 12:51 PM
no just the software upgrade

and I didnt pay the price they are show which doesnt include installation !

I got it a lot less :D:D:D

now looking at the Hirsch front 4 piece grill, as I really like it and I have some money left over from getting a excellent price on the car.

or even the interior kit

Have just done another 100 miles in the car and it feels a lot smoother and pulls from the moment you press the throttle ! turbo lag seems to have vanished

02-11-12, 07:15 PM
How did the engine software upgrade affect your insurance. Have often been tempted to do this.

You will have to post some photos of your new car if you go for the exterior upgrades.

Glad that you are enjoying the new car.

02-12-12, 03:36 AM
next to nothing for the upgrade, just point out it's a ecu software upgrade not a mega BHP increase

02-12-12, 07:05 AM
The ebay car had done 132k miles so that put me off a bit. It was driveable but too far away if it had broke down. Keep up the good work chaps.

02-12-12, 07:31 AM
Thanks Billy for the mileage data, the pricing (with such high miles)is starting to make sense.I wonder if mine will do a further 112000 miles. At 20K, so far so good. For info £200 for two year(20K) service at Cadillac(Milton Keynes)

02-12-12, 08:59 AM
Thats interesting, mine is coming up for its 2 year service..... 18k and no problems at all. Milton Keynes is only 20 miles away and one point which swayed me to buy... in case of problems. I use the village garage for my services... just can't beat them for price and total quality/ honesty.

I actually seriously thought about bidding for that estate myself and breaking it up for parts, but actually someone if they are prepared to sort out the gearbox, will in all honesty have a really decent car. Can't see any issues personally with a Saab autobox, because that is probably what is in it anyway. If a decent looking diesel saloon comes up though for as low a price as that estate has just gone for, I'll definitely bid for it and break it up as I have more than enough room for storing doors, bonnet, windscreens etc. I already have a spare set of rear light clusters, just in case one gets broken!

Me thinks you'll have no problems going way way past 112,000 miles, that's pretty small change really for a good diesel engine and the Fiat/GM diesel engine in these cars is absolutely one of the best out there. I think if like me, you are getting your car serviced each and every year, then any problems are likely to be minimal. Hopefully the independent Saab dealer/technician I've found, will do a good job of looking after my own BLS at the end of this year when my first MOT is due. Brake fluid change coming up in May, so I'll see how friendly he is.

I'm chuffed to bits with the front parking sensors that I had fitted. They have already proved themselves in the supermarket car park! It will be interesting to see what happens in a multi-storey!

So, I'm just coming onto 20,000 miles and the car will be 4 years old in May. Fair enough, I've only owned it two years and the car was almost 2 years old when I bought it 'new', but it's a fantastic drive and I absolutely love the attention the car gets! Still got loads of rubber left on the original tyres on the back end and probably about another 3 to 5000 miles left on the original front tyres, so I'll have to change those before the MOT.

Anyway, regards to all!

Someone will make a mint breaking that car for spares due to the lack of Cadillac panels and bits available. The stereo must be worth a fair bit. Perhaps we should buy the next one. Would be interesting to know how much the breaker paid for S70RMP's

Without meaning to sound disrespectful and I appreciate what you've been told, but I had a very interesting chat with the guy who fixed the front faring on my own BLS the first week into this new year and you definitely don't want to believe everything that an insurance company tells you about repair costs. I find it hard to believe, even taking into account parts supply issues, that your old BLS would have cost that much to repair. My old MX5 unfortunately had two bangs both fixed under insurance and the quotes that came in were unbelievable, even for a car where parts are more than readily available. In the end, the accident repair place that fixed my BLS did the repair to the MX5 at several hundred pounds cheaper than the insurers 'approved' repair specialist and he did an amazing job. This is one of the many reasons why consumers insurance premiums are so unbelievably expensive. My neighbour very recently hit a BMW at very very slow speed in a supermarket car park, putting a very minor dent in one of the doors. It could have been repaired very easily by one of those visit at home dent repair guys, but the owner came back to my neighbour with a repair quote from his garage for just under a thousand pounds because they wanted to do a whole door respray and all of the other stuff that goes with it. If repair jobs aren't being undertaken at proper cost prices, even allowing for the repairers profit margin, then you can expect the sort of pie in the sky repair quotes you were given. I just think it's shameful really, your old BLS could probably have been repaired for a fraction of the cost. Let's face it, they could even have just let you buy a second hand one for half the price you were quoted on repairs and settled it that way! Oh well, never mind, it's gone now, though I would have liked to have had the wheels off it for a set of winter rubber!

I know but I waqs getting itchy feet for a new car and I'd have done it before the end of this year if it hadnt have happened

I'll be back when the ATS come over here with a decent deisel engine

Mmmm, looks like someone might have the opportunity of doing just that anyway. It's back on Ebay again! :hmm:

Well spotted. The price is starting to move.If anybody on the forum buys it for breaking please reserve me a wheel/tyre!

On Ebay again;

How bizarre that this vehicle keeps popping up on ebay?

It's a lovely looking motor, what I don't understand is why, if there is a problem with the autobox, that someone just doesn't pop a reconditioned Saab unit in. Surely the gearbox must be the same?

I just don't understand the point of buying a car with a problem and then just keep shifting it on. There must be loads of people now who have seen this car advertised several times?

The present owner would probably make far more money breaking the car. I for one would love a few items as 'spares' - bonnet (hood to our American cousins), grille, headlights, front faring and possibly, front doors. Certainly if I already owned an estate BLS with the same engine, I'd be bidding on it myself.

Gosh, I still haven't done 20,000 miles in mine yet and it's almost 4 years old! (May 2nd 2008 build date). Still got the original tyres on! Glad it's not an auto!

04-13-12, 06:30 PM
My 180 Auto is nearing 21000 miles .Due to puncture I prematurely replaced both front tyres.£262 for Pirelli P7`s .Otherwise no problems so far.Touch wood!

04-14-12, 02:46 AM
£262 for two Pirelli's? Mmm, I've decided to fit Cooper Tyres ZEON CS6 in the same size presently fitted (235/45/17 94w). There come in at just under £100 each fitted and the tread pattern is very similar.

Sorry, that went off topic and to stray further, just in the process of trying to buy a new set of front coil springs as 'spares'. Don't want to be caught out waiting for weeks if one snaps! Dealer is currently doing the running around on my behalf and just waiting for news.

Appears it is time to "Buy it now"------

04-20-12, 09:41 AM
Mmmm, what happened to all of the bidders I wonder?

It is all very odd!

Another thing I've noticed, why is this vehicle only offered with one key? I've read on a few of the threads whereby owners appear only to have had one key and I'm struggling to hazard a guess as to why?

My BLS came with two brand new working fobs (before anyone asks, no disrespect but I ain't selling one!), so why hasn't this car got two fobs?

Oh well, I somehow suspect we'll see this car on the auction site again in the future!!

IT'S BACK !!!!!
