Hey all,
Need some help here, Im trying to hardwire my Valentine 1 radar detector and Im having some trouble getting power to it. I hae run the power cord along the headliner down the B pillar and into the fuse/relay box under the back seat, question is, where to from here. Running the wire was easy, where do I get the juice?
Advise please
Florian.

I've heard of several techniques for what you're asking. I've heard people find the Accesory wire off the radio, so that it will come on with the car being on, and go off when you turn the key off. I've also heard of people buying foglight kits, following the intructions, but instead of hooking it to the foglight, they hook it to their radar, then they use the fog light switch as the on off for the radar. Though I've never tried either, the latter sounds much more interesting, let me know how you make out, I might be doing the same depending on your results!

You should have an accessory power line in the center where you keep your sunglasses. I'm not familiar with the layout with the inside of a new Seville. If it has a powered mirror option though there should be a power wire.
I've always tapped into one of the power window fuses. With most newer cars, the power stays on until you remove the key and open the door.
I like the foglight idea. The cops have radar detector detectors and you need to be able to shut yours down if you suspect they're on to you.
Get this--some newer radar detectors actually have radar detector detector detectors, believe it or not, and they will automatically shut down if the cops are in the area. Not kidding.

It's called VG2. The detector detector crap.
Radar detectors aren't illegal except for in a few states. If you're speeding and you're caught either ways you're probably getting a ticket. It would still be easy to rip down with a mount similar to mine (below the sun shade wired into the mirror power supply)
Florian, how'd your hardwire end up? I just picked up an '00 STS last week and I'm wanting to do the same thing as you, hardwire in a detector. Normally I'd just use the lighter, but since the STS doesn't have one and only has the low mounted power port I'm out of luck on that.
