Hello,

I'm having trouble locating some good jack stand points for my 89 Coupe Deville. I'm replacing the rear struts/hub assy. so I need a spot that would free up the suspension. Gabriel says to set them just inside the control arm pivot but it can't support the weight.??? There is a spot just inside the jacking point in front of the rear tire but the jack is in the way.?? Is there anyone who's ever put wood between the frame rail and jackstand?

I have never had to support the back of my car...

... but maybe the 2 spots for the factory jack when changing a tire? they are right ont he frame rails, and I think it owuld be OK...

Thank You! you're right. the best place is where the factory jack goes. I just have to figure out how to get it up without putting the jack there....
It's a little tricky b/c you have skirts on the side and coming in from the back you have the exhaust at an angle right across the middle....

I went w/6 ton jackstands in the back where the bumper connects....they have to get up to 20" w/ an arm at least 4" wide so it covers the whole frame rail.....worked like a charm...fronts, just inside the control arm pivot (3 ton jackstands work)

An 89 DeVille is a unibody so you can put all four jackstands on the pinch welds - where the body meets the floor pan. Real quick and easy.
