I was thinking about flushing my transmission fluid and replacing it with synthetic. I was wondering if anyone had any preferences on which brand they use and if there is anything I should be aware of before i do this?

I like Mobil 1 Sythetic ATF for Mercon and Dexron III. Side note... have you had any tranny problems? I had a 2002 Escalade with 65,000 miles when the transmission blew Reverse, 2nd and 4th gear. Had to drive home from Bransen MO about 200 miles in 1st and 2nd gear. Cost $2,500 for new tranny with 50K mile warrenty.

Then 2 months later I trade it in on a new 2004, 2 weeks later this tranny blows 3rd and 4th gear. Fixed 3 days later under warrenty. Currently real nervous about cadillac tranny in escalade.

Just FYI

Mike,
Thanks for the reply. I haven't had any tranny problems at all. I just hit 35k miles and figured I should flush some of the fluids. I changed my front and rear differentials over to synthetic and wanted to flush the tranny while I was at it. Sorry to hear about all of the problems you are having with your tranny though.

Rather than flush, I would just drain and refill.

I'm not exactly sure, when I had it done, it was at the dealership. I looked in my owner's manual and there is no info about the capacity.
