Has anyone purchased an aftermarket spoiler like this one?:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-2007-Cadillac-STS-Painted-Rear-Spoiler-Wing-06-/330271689196?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ASTS&vxp=mtr&hash=item4ce5ba09ec#ht_1283wt_689

My question is, how is the quality and was it easy to install? I will probably use 3M Auto Tape. Will the tape last?

i think if you would be alright with just using the 3m double sided tape. just make sure its the 3m brand and not some no name brand tape. btw that is a nice looking wing. its not gotty looking or fast n the furious look at me 3foot tall wing!

I purchased a spoiler for my son's HHR from the same company and had my dealer install it for him. It came with pre-drilled holes for mounting and included the bolts and washers. The fit and finish was perfect. For $100. it's a bargain with quick turn-around.

Thanks chagrin! That's what I was looking for. I am going to order one. You can't beat that price! Was your son's painted or primered?

I ordered one and it will ship tomorrow. I can't wait to put this on my car!

Will do KRSTS. I will post some pics of it after its installed. I just hope the spoiler matches. White diamond can be a bear to match.

Rdub-The paint and finish were dead-on for the factory HHR white color. The factory drilled mounting holes in the spoiler had brass threads inside to match the bolts. The dealer liked it so much he ordered 3 for the used HHRs on his lot. Like I said, what can you get for $100 anymore.

I received my spoiler in the mail last night. The fit, color and finish is Perfect! It came with attached bolts on the underside of the spoiler. Since I am using 3M Acrylic Plus Automotive Tape to install it, I had to use my grinder to remove the bolts. My question is, how much 3M tape should I use? Should I cover the entire underside with tape, or just the perimeter with some in the middle? I plan on installing if afterwork today. I will post pictures when it's done.

Looks great! Thanks for the fast pics. How much and where did you put the 3M tape?

Thanks! I used 5 yards by 1/2 inch 3M acrylic plus automotive tape all the way around the perimeter about 1/4 inch from the edge. I also bought a roll of 5 ft by 1 inch 3M outdoor mounting tape (up to 5 lbs) at Lowe's and covered most of the underside surface. The spoiler is not moving!!!

I should note that the spoiler came with mounting bolts attached to the underside. I had to take my grinder and cut them off. It took 5 minutes but would have but would have been a PITA without a grinder.

I also ordered the same spoiler and have received the it today. Crystal Red, paint match is great. I think it's a great product and the price is excellent.
Still debating 3m tape or bolting it on.

Does anyone know if it can it be removed with 3M tape without damage to the paint?

One way I've heard to remove items that are held with double-sticky type tape is to use dental floss (I believe I would use dental tape; stronger) between the connecting parts (and waxed floss might work even better). I have never used this method (myself) but think it should work. You'll still have to remove the residue but I think that goo-gone (or similar) is paint safe, and although tedious, should work.

Dental floss will work. I think fishing line would be the best method. The leftover adhesive will take a LONG time to remove. 3M makes an adhesive remover sold at parts stores that makes the job REALLY easy.

Whatever adhesive remover you use, try some on a spot you don't care about before ever using it in a conspicuous spot.

I just received mine from Canada today. Spoiler is perfect and the color (crystal red tintcoat) is dead on. Now I have to decide to use tape or have it professionally bolted on.

I just got mine. Let us know what you decide about mounting. I'm leaning toward tape
