Everyone else who took off quickly kept it straight. The d00d in the Vagon gets it loose. Not by much, but he was also near the curb. Get it loose even a little and hit the curb and you could spin it right into the group of people standing off the street.

Here is the vid I saw. The Vagon comes out at the 3:00 minute mark...

The dOOd was me & I had lots of room for error. As for hitting the curb & taking people out on the side of the road,at 35mph not likely. Just got tired of listening to our "youth of America" slamming most of the American cars at the show that I just had to vent. Than I see this video with this comment & it put me over the edge ;) Great show with lots of great cars, both domestic & foreign.

I hate car meets for this and many other reasons. It gets old. Many people are arrogant and unfriendly for the most part.

Have you been to the original Cars n Coffee in Irvine? Just a few years ago, it wasn't unusual to see enthusiasts from all of the design studios scattered across the south land, racing legends such as Dan Gurney, and celebs such as Jay Leno show up. Everyone was so cool because it was all about the cars. Unfortunately, haven't been to one since I got my V2 (sorry Gary!)

Hell, I would have done much the same thing - and I ain't no dood nor a kid. These slammers of American cars are on thin ice with me anyhow - too mouthy about things that don't concern them and they don't know enough about. Young crows...

I haven't. Most of the time it's events n the San Fernando valley. I just got burned out with car meets. Nowdays, we just meet up early in the morning in the valley and cruise up the coast for breakfast then take a canyon drive home.

I don't know.. it's a lot easier to lose traction in a V2 than the before mentioned cars-- except maybe the supra. I know sometimes I'll break traction when I don't mean to. Breaking it loose like that? It's not something I would do.. but it's not totally crazy either, and was he the only car to do that? I would be surprised if none of the cobras didn't pull the same stunt, more than a few of those Evo's sounded like they got on it pretty hard too, triple digits on a 45-55mph roadway is any safer? My point is, these places assume some kind of shenanigans like this, it was a 3 second blurp. I neither approve or dissapprove.

The V was the first I had seen in that vid get squirrelly. Now, I know I can get that kind of tirespin and side to side action with all the nannies on. But I don't begrudge anyone in the crowd if they get a little nervous.

Now, if that was an anti-American car comment, then he was a tool...

Exhibition of speed is a serious NO-NO at this event. It was nearly shut down for good last year by the Plano PD due to so many cars showing off as they exited the lot. The very generous family who donates the space for C&C Dallas has many volunteers at the exit and entrance, and ask all people to be quiet and slow. There are signs at the exit and across the street against the highway wall telling participants not to Burn Out. Plano PD patrols the access road, and residents driving by are always complaining about the extra traffic.

One person who can't keep their foot out of the throttle could ruin this event for the hundreds that attend each month. A few burn-outs or accidents at 35 mph have happened before at this exact spot. I would hate to see this event that raises a lot of money for charity end. The Cadillac V community here in the North Texas area has always had a good repoire with C&C. A few people who don't like american cars shouldn't be able to elicit this type of response from a Cadillac owner.

No offense, but I've found the amount of noise/burnout/fuss that people make leaving a cruise night is inversely proportional to their (perceived) penis size.

Big noise/big burnout = small package

Same goes for motorcycles leaving a stoplight. My bike is loud, but I try to be quiet in town and around crowds (go easy on the throttle).

Me, I ease out. Sometimes being sublime is the coolest. Who do you want to be, Dean Martin or Liberace?

Precisely. Car meets are to go look at cars. If you want to turn off the traction control and see how bad a driver you really are, here's the place: http://www.apexdrivingacademy.com/

Does the Cadillac group tend to hang out together at this event? If so what time do they all show up or do they meet elsewhere and drive in together?
On topic of this thread now. I understand that bystanders could be injured if someone gets out of control. However, for those to comment and bust this guys balls I find it laughable... You mean to tell me that you have NEVER done something similar in your life???

We used to get together and drive in as a group. We ould meet at the Starbucks in the legacy center and roll in with about 12 cars at a time. Now, the event is so large, it is nearly impossible to all meet up and drive in together, as the spots are filling up so early. It helps that some members get in early and hold some spots for other Cadillacs.

I don't think the burnout was a big deal. But, the comments in the video that you don't like had nothing to do with the car, and everything to do with the driving display. Like I said, it wouldn't have bothered me at all, but that's why they made the comment; it had nothing to do with your car.

The car is and takes on the personality/aggressiveness/driving ability/ etc.,/etc.,/ of the driver. The comment was basically prejudicial about the car/driver and out of tune with the events taking place. If these 'good folks' didn't expect to see some aggressive driving, they should have been spectators at a friggin' kitty car convention..... They stand at the edge of the highway and make comments about how a vehicle went by? Sniveling mouthy jerks! (IMHO)

I go to the Cars and Coffee in Irvine about once a month. It originated in Newport Coast and I believe the reason it was shut down was for the burnouts. Every car that pulled out of the parking lot had the go peddle buried with a hundred or so spectators. Just takes one idiot to crash and ruin it for everyone else. I personally don't think the burnout was bad at all and they are standing pretty far from the curb as well. How many cars go to this Cars and Coffee on average? I think the one in Irvine has about 350-400 cars on any given Saturday.

Irvine PD sits out front from start to finish to make sure this doesn't happen:

The guy just needs a little practice that's all. He just plain lost it - It's very easy to do and once a RWD gets squirrely you might as well check the grocery list. That car is RWD, light and plenty powerful. Camaros and Mustangs are noted for this having a positraction/limited slip RE.... slippery! You can bet that no-one needed to scold him!

Every car that pulled out of the parking lot had the go peddle buried with a hundred or so spectators...That's not how I remember it when it was at the Crystal Cove shopping center. The mouth-breathers did not attend, just a bunch of true car nuts--the core of which came from the design centers in the vicinity, that generally exercised discretion and restraint. People got on it, sure, but breaking traction was frowned upon.
