: Why do stupid things happen to brand new cars?

This morning - Friday the thirteenth - I parked next to a work truck at the far corner of a parking lot (of a well known department store) - all is good.... I come out with the items I was asked to pick up this morning. The wind is blowing with intense gusts, one of which yanked the car door from my hand as I was getting in and around it went striking the west coast mirror on the truck. The glass didn't break - not sure why not - but now there's a deep scratch in the door glass - inverted 'V' about 7/8" tall and deep enough to stick a thumbnail into. Dammit! The way things work - if the truck had not been there the force on the door being blown open would have severely damaged the door, hinges and maybe the door front sill.... Is there a moral to this story? Stay home on Friday the thirteenth? Always park next to a truck? Don't drive in the wind? Yiee Yiee! $565.00 worth of damage to pick up some shampoo!!!

Thanks for 'listening'.... :gah:

Don't feel bad.

Had our Vagon one week when we took it to Williams, AZ. for it's first road trip. Being the anal-retenative type, I brought car wash supplies. Headed to the only car wash in town, one with the spray wands. Wifey held the wand while I washed. She's pretty small, and when she let go of the trigger on the wand, she hit the edge of the roof, leaving a tiny chip in the paint, and a ding.

Gotta pull the headliner for one of the dent doctor guys to fix it, and I'm hesitant to do that...

When I first got my BDE V Coupe, my wife was checking out the paint of my car so closely while backing her Escalade out of our garage and smashed her passenger side mirror right off the car. First week I had my car, it cost me $500.00 for a new mirror including paint and install. It happens to all of us! Especially the anal guys like us!

:crying2: Thanks guys, I feel much better now..... ( the old misery loves company thing, you know...) I can cover the scratch with my thumb - but I'm replacing the glass! It's like a major wound!

Damn, I like this car!

Crappy cell phone pic doesn't show it but the gouges are about 1/8" deep.

Today was crazy windy.. lets just say I decided to play around on the Monitor Merrimack and I decided to back down after the hood started to buffet like it was going to lift-off.
