: Curbed the !@#$% out of one of my wheels!

I was driving in a downpour this morning when some a**wipe tried to change lanes on top of me. I swerved to avoid getting hit and tagged a curb with my front left wheel. I curbed the crap out of it. I felt the "grind" as the wheel hit the curb all the way through my hands down to the pit of my stomach. I wanted to puke.

Any suggestions for a good repair shop in greater Houston/Austin area (I'm about halfway in between)?

On the bright side... black rims are easy to fix. Just mask off the tire and use some black touch up paint or rattle can. It'll at least get you by until you can get it fixed. From 5 feet, no one will even know.... except you. :(

Even a black sharpie will hide it for now.... so it's not so nasty looking.

I agree. Clean it real good and rattle can it. You have to watch out for those curbs, they can move in front of you before you know it.

As much crap as I give my wife and daughters about hitting curbs, parking stops, etc, ....... oh , well. If I hadn't swerved I would have most likely had to replace my front fender and front end as well as a wheel or two. It was the lesser of two evils but it still pissed me off. Sucker better be glad I didn't catch up with him. It's not a great combo ...... pouring down rain, leaving my cardiologist after taking a 2 1/2 hour stress test, then being forced into a curb by some inattentive idiot...... oh yea ....... a loaded .40 cal Glock M27 with four extended magazines of Hydra-Shok 180 GR bullets in the passenger seat.

That's acutally not that bad as far as accident avoiding curbing goes. None of those gashes look particullary deep. I would bet you could get it refurbed very nicely.

Dont feel bad it could have been worse. When I first got to Germay I wondered why so many here change into old, basic wheel hubs and snow tires. Then when I rashed up all my wheels over last winter I figured it out. Oh well, it just gives me a reason to purchase a new set of wheels when I get back to the states next summer.
