When I put it in park and try to turn off it says put in park. Push start, put in drive, then park and shut off and it usually does. I notice that if I leave my foot on the brake it shuts down. Any ideas what would cause that. Thanks for your help.

It's either the shifter assembly or maybe just a linkage adjustment. My guess it's the assembly. Mine has been replaced twice under warranty.

Shifter Aseembly replaced under CPO warranty for me last year. Before the repair I could just wiggle the shifter gently and the message would go away.

My 08 does this and it is getting harder to get it to shut off
I wiggle shifter and push in brake and it barely works
Mine has 69000 miles. What is the cop warranty. Would mine still be under warranty

CPO is Certified Pre-owned. When purchased used from a Cadillac dealer some cars qualify; a CPO warranty provides an extension to a total of 100,000 miles & 6 years.

Your 2008 should have an OEM warranty for 4 years/50,000 miles.

Are you a regular customer of your dealer?

When I bought used STS's in 2008, the dealer was touting 100,000 mile drivetrain warranties. Even if your guy pushes-back, try persuasion... Offer to pay for parts if they will cover labor.

It can't hurt to ask...
