Version 2? I think it just means the 2nd generation of the V series.

Ask James...

Otherwise, Steve is correct.

V1= 1st generation CTS-V
V2= 2nd generation CTS-V

So that designation (V2) is referencing the 6.2L engine....and the later changes? So the '10, '11, '12's are V2's just by their production date....?

yes, it's 09-12 however. V1's being 04-07.

Chrome would have gone much farther if the name had been 'graphite' or something like that.... :D

When we old d00ds in the old CTS-V forums started discussing the rumors of the next V on the new Sigma II CTS platform, no one knew what year it was going to be. As it got close people kept saying the "next V" or "new V". In the SHO forums and elsewhere, I've seen models designated by generations. So I started calling the new V the V2 as opposed to our old V1s...

The "V" is definitely the key!
I remember referring to the SHO as being a Gen I, Gen II or Gen III.
Certainly, Camaros are referred to as 1st Gen thru 5th Gen.
... and then the 'Vette guys are different again with the C1 thru C6 references.

Best regards,

Elie

That's spread to the Camaro now. C1 - C5.
