Anyone ever seen an sts with the 4.6 swapped for an LS6 ? I bought an 08 sts 3 years ago from a friend and it was originally a base V6 . My friend died 3 months after I purchased the car and was wondering if anybody might have any info on what mods were required to make the engine swap work . The car drives fine but I am just curious .

This was brought up here into the new "STS" threads. I do not believe the old 4.6 can be swapped into a RWD package. Some of the folks here will know.

So, for the sake of clarity, you're saying you have an '08 with an LS6 and are wondering what your friend had to do to complete the swap?

Studio,

Also for clarity: Exactly what engine do you believe is presently in the car and, more importantly, how do you know?

When you open the hood the motor says LS6 and I had an LS6 powered Z06 and the motor is exactly the same in my STS . To clarify I was wondering what mods to the steering, and the suspension were needed to make the swap work . I was also wondering what company could have produced the aftermarket 6 speed automatic transmission in my STS .

Stinks would have been a nice swap to see. Given enough $ anything is possible.

If you can stuff a 572 in a DTS, I don't see why you can't drop an LS in a STS with enough money.

Isn't the LS6 the CTS-V engine? If the OP has a RWD STS it should fit given that the STS is marginally larger than the CTS...

Fitting a different engine is much more than making it fit. It's making all the others parts & pieces connect.

Getting the ECM and powertrain sensors and modules to converse civily would be more difficult than achieving world peace.

Lots and lots of cubic money would be the answer.
