: Automatic Locks? HATE THEM

Hello, First thread, hopefully someone can help. 08 ESCALADE, love it. The only problem I have is the Auto door locks either when you put the car in drive or at 10 mph's. Is there anyway I can stop them from locking. I know its a safety issue and the dealer told me thats how the locks operate. My problem is I had the Caddy for about a year and three of the four locks needed to be changed. When my warranty runs out, I know its going to cost me 200-300 bucks. thx

Yes you can turn it off in the DIC

Here's the link to the owners manual if required

You can turn them off, but your problem with the locks is not common, in fact I have never had a lock issue with 8 Escalade's

I know for a 2008 those locks should not be failing already. As far as a safety issue, I agree, but you would probably be locking the door once inside anyway. I am against extended warranties, all I can say is just to set aside 20 bucks or more a week in case of a repair. Good luck.

For safety please keep the auto/door locks working.
Some years ago had a DeVille with auto/door locks, used to hate them but never got around to turn them off.
One day the wife an I drove to San Antonio to visit family, we were at a stop light when a man tried to open my driver door (auto/locked) and yelled OPEN THE DOOR. the rest happened real fast I rolled down window and put my 9mm about a foot from his face an I yelled back WHAT U WANT? That`s the last i saw of him running away.
So, yea!!! I love my auto/door locks......
