I have a 2012 SRX and want to wire into the mirror wiring connector, but mine is different fron those in other radar posts! Any 2012 owners done this yet? Appreciate any help.

I plan on just pulling the cover off the pod behind the rear view mirror.

I want to do that too, but don't know which wires to tap into. My plug in that location has five wires across and a second row with a few. Please let us know which ones work for you. Thanks. :hmm:

Well, I did it! On my 2012, I used the mirror connector, with pin two (red) for power and pin 5 (black with black stripe) for ground. Works great.

You know if you did it right if the car starts the next morning. I did it wrong 3 times and the battery was always dead the next morning.

Bummer! Dead batteries are a PITA. So far, I am good to go with the SRX. (I keep my Corvette on a Battery Tender all the time)

Sorry for responding to an old post but I'm at a loss as to where to hard wire my Escort. Greyghost states to pull the cover off of the pod behind the mirror. That pod on my 2012 SRX, I believe, is the Rainsense module. There are no visible wires going into the mirror and I assume that the mirror wiring is traveling inside the post that holds the mirror to the windshield/rainsense module. (Not sure of the internal configuration of this module.) Again, I see no visible wires. If the wireharness is in this pod location: How do I detach the pod cover and where do I attach the positive and negative wiring so that the radar detector turns on and shuts off properly? Thanks. Any help would be appreciated. Again, sorry for resurrecting an old post, but this is as close as I could get to a easy install on a 2012 SRX. Note: I don't have a heavy foot....honest. I like to know where Mr. Officer is while I am traveling the interstates and on my trip up north last weekend I was amazed at how many were out and hidden. My Escort radar detector always let me know what was ahead and I missed that. OH! this was my first long trip with my SRX and yes....the 3.6 was worth the wait.

Well! I answered my own post above! I opened the pod behind the mirror by sliding the right side to the right and the left to the left. Use care to not break any plastic tabs by sliding in parallel with the windshield. Yes it is the Rainsense pod with the grid & electronics along the windshield and yes the mirror harness is in the center. Attached the radar detector wiring to the mirror harness. Good to go.

Did the car start the next morning ? If yes, you did it correctly. :cloud9:

Greyghost, yes the car started in the morning. Thanks to Greg and his post regarding pin 2 and pin 5. My pin 2 is (pink) and pin 5 is (black with white stripe). Note: When they assemble the harness's the pin numbers are KEY. The color of the wiring is dependent on the stock on hand at the supplier.

Mine is installed the old-fashioned way. Plugged the Valentine detector into the receptacle where the ashtray would go; ran the wire under the steering post and up the left side to the front left dash, using stick-on wire clips. Doesn't look all that great, but I don't notice it any longer. It works well. Did the same thing in my Lincoln, but what I like about the SRX is that the power turns off with the engine, so you don't have to remember to use the off/on switch on the detector. Forgetting to do that on the Lincoln would drain the battery.

If you've used the mirror receptacle for your detector, how about posting a photo of how you mounted it. Thanks ahead of time!

Also, I live near Virginia and D.C., where radar detectors are "illegal" and WILL be confiscated by the police; so it has to be accessible for removal, quickly...

You can order the Invisicord for the Valentine One. Worth every penny. Plugs into the back of the light dimming mirror.

Also, hands down the V1 is the best RD you can get.

I much prefer the Driver STi. Considering its 'invisible' to detector detectors, and I regularly drive in a province that has a ban on detectors. It's paid for itself about ten times already!

Can someone please post pics, and a walk thru? I've already dented my hatch trying to prevent the exact thing (a dent) from happening.

Someone? Anybody?
