View Full Version : EXT Rear Lamp replacement

I will never fully understand why Cadillac has still refused to install the nicer LED style lights in the rear end of the EXT pickups. Sure, i can install LED bulbs, but the overall look of individual lit up LED's in a row can't be duplicated with a couple of bulbs.

I've noticed that the EXT lamp assembly for 2012 is basically the same crap.

However, the ESV for 2012 has the nice looking LED rowed lamps.

I'm debating about purchasing some ESV lamps and hacking them up to fit my EXT. I've searched and searched, but haven't found anyone who has done this before. Sure, there are tons of Avalanche LED housings on ebay. They all look cheap. These are not too terrible: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-escalade-ext-esv-forum-2007/196273-led-taillight-2010-escalade-ext.html

I simply can't read any more posts on the LED conversion threads all over this board. I'm not looking for bulbs like the front of the car. I want the LED housing the rest of the Caddy's seem to be getting.

Yeah, i saw those on ebay. The IPCW Ruby Red lamps are not as conservative either, but might suffice. I just like the clean look of the ESV lights.

I am eventually going to do it. Already have a right ESV tailight to cut up but no left and the darn wrecking yards try to gauge you heavily even for lights with broken lens's. If I could find a left with broken lens (but not frame) for $75 or less I would proceed. But the total cost in time and money would be probably more than the aftermarket ones listed above. I too like the reg Escalade LED's. Just don't know how it will look with the uncontoured EXT red lens.
