Now that the average videogamer is 37 years old, we must have some V owners here with an Xbox 360 in the house, right? If so, post up your pics of the CTS-V from Forza Motorsport 4!

I just picked up the game over the weekend - first thing I did was a free play hot lap of a CTS-V sedan around the Top Gear test track. I don't think that's ever going to get old!! :bouncy:

If you're comfortable doing so, post up your Xbox Live Gamertag and we can start a little challenge for lap and 1/4 mile times. Mine's the same as it is here. :)

We should start a Cadillac Forums car club, no?

Nice shots btw :)

sucks that the V2 is only a B+ car in the game--- ie.. there's no drivetrain or engine swaps in the upgrade bars.

would have been nice to play around with an AWD 427 or 454, there's just no traction when you get really powerfull in the V2-- it makes for an incrediably fustrating experience.

I'm confused at why the coupe is rated so much better than the sedan.....The coupe is listed at 3900 lbs and the sedan at 4200....I don't think that right.

The Tony Show
10-18-11, 09:05 AM
Yeah, they messed a few things up there. Coupe and Sedan should be rated nearly identical in performance, but aren't.

Forum member Stingroo started a car club for us- I'll send out an invite for anyone who'd like to join. What would be great is if we could build a few Vs with different setups (road racing, top speed, 1/4 mile, etc) and then put them in the Club Garage to share with each other.

Forza's never been about absolute accuracy, Grand Tourismo is *much* more a true real-life simulator than Forza is.

They made a few mistakes on specs, but Forza is pretty darn realistic when it comes to handling and car control. The computer AI of your opponents is also enormously better than GT, with opponents who aren't locked to the perfect racing line and will actually spin out, plow through a turn or make some of the mistakes a real driver would.

Most people play a demo of Forza with the options set to arcade steering and auto braking and mistakenly think it's not as simmy as GT, but it can be. Put the steering to "simulation" and disable the nannies, and it's impressive. They even worked with Pirelli on a tire deformation model to reproduce friction and tire deflection under cornering.

in terms of how each individual car reacts to driving, specifically in terms of how said car actually reacts in real life, gt is superior to forza . you can sort of hop in and just play either game with aids if you want to but forza has traditionally done a better job with driver aids and not restricting you early on with lengthy careers, gt has traditionally done a better job at real-life characteristics of their cars for simulation purposes, and they have done the same for their tracks and careers. the best example to compare the two would have to be this; forza let's you *do-over* that apex you missed, gt does not..

they are both great games, and really the choice between the two is utterly determined by which console you have. that said, gt always seems more hardcore and forza always seems to dance a fine line between realistic and arcade style gameplay.

Which one has better graphics?

The Tony Show
10-18-11, 12:06 PM
They're about equal. GT5's "premium" cars might be a touch better, but they only have a handful of those. The rest of them are fairly basic and have no rendered interior, whereas all of Forza's cars have a complete interior with functioning gauges on the dash if you use the driver view.

It looks pretty damn good:

the ps3, but you'd need to have them side by side to tell the difference.

I'd have to agree with the above assessment too..

Totally up for debate which game is better, some like GT5, some Forza. Some (like myself) like both. You're getting into fan boy territory when you say one or the other is the superior simulator.

How do you like the Microsoft wireless steering wheel? I'm debating getting it or setting up a real wheel+pedals rig.

I'm not sure what you mean by "how do you do quarter mile". The Hockenheim map has a 1/4 mile track and you just press on the gas and get going.

hadnt seen the 1/4...

the wheel is surprisingly good... it was cheap sort of bundled at best buy with the game and a $25 gift card. not as good as pedals clearly, but WAY better than the controller alone. it moves perfectly with my hands.

I will never understand how you guys play racing games on a gamepad. If I don't have a wheel and pedals, I get about 2 minutes into the game before I get frustrated with the controls and turn it off.

Yeah, i dont like how they made the coupe faster than the sedan. Everywhere I've read, they are about the same with the coupe about a tenth of a second faster in the slaloms. Look at the specs for the MB e63. They made it faster than the V.

I purchased the wireless wheel for Forza 3 and the hate the damn thing. The wheel is maybe 3/4 of a turn lock to lock which gives a very unrealistic feel. Especially when you have a 90 degree turn and you just barely turn the wheel to make it. It also has to be plugged in as the battery back doesn't give it enough juice for force feedback.

JimmyH
10-19-11, 09:42 PM
I have an 800 wheel, and it's not any better. The 2.5 turns does not make it feel realistic at all. I set it to 270 like my previous wheels.

mine doesnt have a charger... also, it turns at the exact ratio of the wheel on the screen. my hands are in exactly the same position as the driver on the screen.

Today during my "play time" I raced a CTS/V event and low and behold, I caught and passed a yellow CTS/V Coupe..... Looked like millinium yellow from the Corvette, and it actually looked pretty sharp. Anyone else seen it yet?

Regarding steerting wheels, I have the Fanatec GT2 and it blows away the Microsoft wheel which I had before.

i've been playing forza 4 nonstop since i picked it up... upgraded everything on the V2 Coupe once i reached affinity level 4, all parts become free! the f10 M5 converted to AWD kills everything though... the xbox 360 wireless mad catz wheel blows, you definitely need a force feedback wheel to enjoy anything with this game. I'm awaiting fanatecs release of the csr elite wheel... pricey, but should be well worth it. add me to the list, my gamer tag is t u g s k i ... anyone make a specific tune for their V2? there are a couple online for $$$, but haven't tried any of them out yet.

Help! I'm not a gammer and never have been (I'm 63) but this looks like a good time. I used to race with the SCCA but had to stop too much$$$$. So I'm looking for something that is as realistic as possible, seat, peddals, wheel and game. What do you think?

Pardon my gammer. I need new glasses too.

If you want realistic, better off going with a PC. You can build a screaming system for $1500, or buy one for $2000. Then another $500-600 for for the seat, wheel, and pedals.
