I finally got around to getting everything together to be able to make a video of my V.

I certainly don't know what I'm doing and it definitely wasn't easy, but this is my first attempt on shooting, directing and editing.....so be gentle boys.

Nice! I'm surprised the camera was able to keep up with the car ! :O

Great vid! Especially if you're as new to this as you say you are. The pans are smooth and the cuts are quick and creative, well done! In the future perhaps try to avoid shots where you are clearly visible in the reflection, and maybe add some more action/driving shots. Overall, nicely done. :cool2:

Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely plan it out better next time (was pretty much seat of the pants this time). Honestly, it was so busy there by the time we showed up that I was hastily taking the shots and my camera was also so unsteady. I didn't have the right quick release plate so I had to jury rig it to stay on the end of the jib. I really need some sort of a dolly too as getting good shots with my cheap jib was more difficult than I had anticipated.

that's really a lot harder than it sounds with Black Diamond. The paint only pops in direct sunlight.

Cool video. I was just out there September 18. Got married in Vegas and next day me and my brother took a Mercedes-Benz SL600 Roadster through the canyon. The Gallardo was already taken :) . Really beautiful out there. It wasn't too busy when we went. Really cool idea taking your car out there and doing that.

If that was your first attempt, then if you maintain the large steps in quality filming and editing, they by your 5th attempt I think you should be receiving a check from Caddy's Ad Department.

Car looks great; the camera needs new struts though. :histeric:

I received some good tips from everyone here and elsewhere so I'm going to try and shoot a new video on Thursday. Wish me luck!

I ordered some accessories to try and spice up the re-shoot I'm doing tomorrow.

Here's one of them: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0023ZK2TY

I (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0023ZK2TY)'m going to try some more action shots this time.

Here's some raw video I shot today and put together to test syncing and overlaying video and audio. I learned the hard way that you really need both an audio and video cue to sync to.

clap your hands ... simple and cheap way to get audio and visual cue for syncing ...

also, i'd like to see the video images swapped to get the hood view as the primary shot ...

Good tip on the clapping. The video doesn't switch or do anything cause I just threw it together to test the audio.

yeah, i was just saying for next time... make the hood cam the larger video and the side cam the smaller one ...
