: Fuel injector leaking at rail contact

I just replaced all my fuel injectors with re-manufactured injectors. After replacing everything looked great and ran great. Well the next morning I started my car and I started smelling gas. My car turned off automatically and when I looked under the hood, I noticed gas located near the back rail. I noticed that gas was leaking from the connection of the injector and the rail. I also noticed that the re-manufactured injectors had a gasket already on them so I can't see that being the problem. Should there be a second gasket within the rail :hmm: ? Please help :crying2: . Does anyone have a schematic of the assembly for the fuel injectors?

Pull the rail off, and pull the offending injector off. Remove the o-ring on the top of the injector, and check the fuel rail to see if there are any o-rings stuck up in the hole. Remove them all. Go to nearest GM dealership, and purchase a injector o-ring kit. Reinstall "fat" o-ring on top (fuel rail side), and "skinny" o-ring on bottom (manifold side). I'd recommend replacing them for all of the injectors, but choice is yours. btw - make sure you lube them with something. I typically use fresh engine oil, but others might suggest something else... Sounds like you need to pull the rail off and inspect that seal at the injector. I would also inspect the rail carefully for cracks or any splits. The process of R&R'ing the rail previously may have stressed it and cracked it or something.....or damaged it in some way.

Can the y2k models use the stainless fuel rail? Probably not since they use a different 'beauty cover' bolt scheme, but thought I'd ask....

EDIT*****Nevermind... Just read you have a 97... don't know why I thought you had a 2000 model... If you haven't already, upgrade to the stainless rail. The plastic 95-97 ones have been recalled. It's free of charge, PLUS, you get new o-rings as well! Save yourself $10 (I think that's how much the o-ring kit was)

Found the problem. It seem that the O-rings that came with the re-manufactured injectors were cracked. After replacing with AC Delco certified O-rings everything worked great. NO LEAKING. Thanks for all your help.
