Hey guys,

Some local 'vette peeps have extended an invite to join them for this cruise/lunch/cider mill blast. Gloria and I have been before and had a ball.
See post on Corvette forum and let Suzanne (OP) know if your coming so she can book seats at the restaurant.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/great-lakes/2888684-october-22-se-michigan-fall-color-tour-new-boston-saline-to-dexter-cider-mill.html

This is a weather permitting event, so keep your fingers crossed and join us. Family friendly event as well.

Post up if interested.

Must've missed this thread. Sorry, George.

So, I just looked on the map, and this is very doable for me. Probably have my 8-1/2 year old son with me (and one of his friends ... wife will be working), but it looks fun. I'm tentative.

The weather? God only knows at this time of year.

Randy,

Look forward to seeing you again (weather permitting)

I don't think I'll be around that day (current plans put me in Germany that day) but if things change with my schedule I'll be there.

It's still a little early to tell for sure, but the 10-day weather forecast is calling to 58 deg and partly cloudy skies.

That would be one major hurdle out of the way for attending this race ... er, I mean cruise.

My wife and I would like to go. Maybe I can talk pissnuoff to drive up and make some noise.

do you want us to send you an email now or later in the week?

Now if possible please, it's easier to cancel seats an hour before than trying to book them at the last minute.
Thanks very much

It's hell getting old huh, Randy. I read it and thought well maybe he's had a few single malts (like me) but i knew what you meant, which scares ME even more LOL.

See ya Saturday.lookin' good weather wise. Man we have about 7 "V"s coming with 2 VAGONS, how cool is that?

Does anyone have a half decent camera? I have a POS old digital.

I've got a new(er) Nikon D5000 digital. I'll bring it.

How early should I arrive? Who do I look for when I get there? Will the Vs be grouped or sprinkled amongst the Vettes?

What a great time! George and his wife, Gloria, were marvelous. Met some new people, too. Wish I wasn't so horrible at names, but met Suzanne (Vette owner), Will and wife, Brad and gf, Paul and wife, and many, many others.

Here's about half the group in a parking lot at the high school.

Here I am sandwiched between George's coupe and Brad's rare 6-spd V Wagon.

Then, after meeting everyone and checking out each other's rides, we lined up in groups to begin the first of two legs scheduled for the day.

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr189/rand49er/DSC_0751.jpg

We encountered several four-way stops along the way. Many of them had other cars stopped but they remained stopped and let all roughly 30 cars go through together without interrupting our flow. Almost without exception a stop was followed by a very rapid acceleration by each member of the cruise. Bystanders loved it!

Finally, we arrived at our first destination in downtown Saline, MI.

We all made it, and being about 1:45 in the afternoon meant the restaurant had plenty of room for us.

The menu was great (I love seafood) ... it was hard a hard decision, but I ended up with the Lake Perch, one of my all-time favorites. My 9-year-old and his friend did a good job of putting up with us old folks.

We finally made it to the cider mill, but I couldn't stay for the group photo as we had a new puppy at home locked in his crate, and his bladder must've been stressed, so we left right after this.

I heard a couple of the Vette owners say they had never been on one of these cruises before, and that goes for me, too. Another guy said this was his fifth (or sixth?) just with this group alone. EVERYBODY had a wonderful time from what I could tell. I'm going again if asked ... it was a great way to spend a fall afternoon.

Randy,
great seeing you again. Nice meeting Brad & Holly (Blk 6MT Vagon) and Will and Annina, (Blk Sedan). Met tons of new peeps. We needed name tags.
Perfect weather, nice roads, great lunch and I'm on my 3rd Cinnamon/sugar doughnut as I type this.
Thanks to Suzanne for another great outing and our V invite.

Man those west MI 'vette guys have some LOUD AZZ rides. Like you said, after some 4 way stop launches it sounded pretty sweet from behind the "band" as they let the music rip.

Thanks again for the invite. We had a blast. things i've learned from this day. 1) always have a full tank of fuel, 2) always carry cash.

Thanks again George for the loan.

We had a great time too. Nice to meet you guys. Can't wait for the hospitality festivities for the World Challenge races next year. That's definitely the best way to watch any race. Met the Gliddens in a Ford tent in Minnesota years ago. We snuck around the IRL paddock courtesy of some hospitality passes at Kansas once too. Saw Big AJ wrenching on AJ the IV's car. Took a pic of little Al with some lady because he spotted us mulling around and they were looking for someone to take the pic. Insane things happen and can be seen if you gain just that little bit of access :)

Brian, a couple of Grande Expressos (5HR engergy) and a cold cloth would have snapped you right into the groove. I guarantee you would have been alert for the cruise. You really missed a good day. The great colours and the smell of buring leaves..errr I meen tires was really fun. The 'vette guys and gals were cool and actually like the idea of the "V" shotgun escorts. Next time my brother.

It was fun, but 5-hours fun? Hm-m ...

Good to hear you had a great time!

I would've gone but I spent an entire day on a fall cruise all around the thumb and Frankenmuth with friends the weekend before.

I had a solid hour or more drive to the start point and from end point to home. Plus, had plenty of yard work and things that needed to get done around the house.
