In the past, taking dad to Sacramento for doctor's appointments was about all the driving he could take in a day, about 60 miles. I was surprised this morning when he asked "are we still on for Yosemite"? Since getting the V, he has been able to cover more ground, Tahoe, Reno, North Shore, Hwy 88, but Yosemite is 140 miles one way on very windy roads. Well today, not only Yosemite was no problem, he asked if we could go home via Tioga Pass at 9462' then on to 395 and Nevada, then 88 W to 89 N and on to 50 westbound. I asked if he was sure about this and told him how long that will take, he said "lets do it". We were in the car today from 10:30 AM to 10:30 PM. I guess he is good for any drive now. The V was the right car for me to drive and him to ride.

After 5 tankfuls of not resetting the MPG computer, it is a hard to change 19.9 MPG.

Looks like you two had a great time! My dad is starting to slow down and I am cherishing every moment we have together.

I have to say, I am a little envious. I lived in SoCal and NoCal for about 15 years and loved the lake tahoe area. I backpacked a few times up there and skied a few years as well. Yosemite is also something to walk around in. After living in TX for a little more than a decade, I definitely miss the mountains and greener nature. After this years drought here, its just plain brown. Reminds me of the year I lived in tucson. I just may have to move back to tahoe area, but I'd probably pick the nevada side this time.

I hope my kids give me the affection/consideration you do your dad when I hit anywhere near his age.

Lord, I love that red color. If only our SUV was not almost exactly the same color.

Thanks folks for the kind words. Dad was good to me when I was growing up. What comes around, goes around.

This picture is at Reno's Hot August Nights that pop and I have attended in the past. The V is in the background. Had friends that were vendors, so they moved the barricades so we could park much closer in the vendor area.
