: Replacing rear differential axle seal?

Looks like the new rear diff I installed is leaking some fluid from the drivers side axle seal. If you look closely you will see it has a small dent. Axle seals can be replaced, correct?

Yep. GM Part Number 25968537, AC Delco #291-331. You do, of course, have to pull the axle partially.

Werd. Thanks darkman. No prob pulling the axle, just more money, this will be the third time its been pulled in as many weeks... long story...

Yes, it's very easy to replace. Just pop the old one out with a flat breaker bar. Put some gear lube on the new seal and make sure it's flat on the surface and push it in. I used a piece of wood to distribute the weight evenly (even though it is probably overkill) but I like to do things right the first time and not worry about it later.

Darkman is right, the axle will have to come out, but sounds like you are a pro by now :2thumbs:
