: Just purchased a 06 CTS-V, new to the forums...

I spent two months trying to find a CTS-V that was in great shape and in my price range. I wanted to avoid the 04-05s due to the differential issues, so I finally landed a sweet deal on a 06 CTS-V. The car was actually located in South Carolina, so I had it shipped to Florida. I purchased it with Magnaflow catback already installed. It also apparently had CAGS removed. Here are pics of my new baby I shot with a DSLR. I haven't named her yet, but here she is...

Very clean V. I suggest a username change however, as there can only be one "Stealth" CTS-V on this board...

Just teasing!

Thanks guys, glad to be here. I'm happy that I was able to get this color too. If I couldn't get a silver V, the next choice would have been a raven black one. Where do I submit it for September V of the month? Is there a thread?

I was reviewing the forums and realize there's another "stealth" and apparently he's one of the more well known owners around here. From what I've read, he is experienced with tuning them? Typically whenever i join a forum, I always use either .:stealth:. or stealth418. Funny to see that there's another one here, and well known in the community on top of that. :)

EDIT: I forgot to ask... Is it normal for the clutch to make somewhat of a clack sound when pushing in the clutch pedal coming out of 1st gear at a low RPM? This will typically happen while driving around a parking lot. It sounds somewhat like my 6 puck sounds on my other car. So far I've found the drivetrain to be somewhat "clunky" and not the smoothest. I guess it is what it is though. I'll have to check out the motor mounts this weekend. The car only has 48K on it and is still under warranty.

Yes it is the classic 'cts-v clunk' you are experiencing. It's either the annoying clunkyness of the dual mass flywheel and/or a worn rear diff bushing. Most likely both. Parade clunk is annoying but once you learn to drive around it you'll be fine. Also, you could get an aftermarket clutch/flywheel setup and aftermarket diff bushing.

I see... I'll inspect the rear diff bushing as well then. I've learned over time to kinda hold the gas down a little bit longer while pushing the clutch in. Seems to disengage more smoothly that way. Thanks. :)

You can do the FW, the diff bushings, and the clutch and still have some clunk leftover. I do.

Seems to be between the pinion and ring gears in my case, and I suspect others as well.

Not exactly. I usually use either "Chosen1" or "AngryHog" as my online names. I got into the habit years ago of adding the ™ to the end of either one. I'll stop.

I live in the Orlando area. I have seen maybe one other CTS-V here in Orlando....

I've had the CTS-V for about 3 months now and have already been through several parts and services:

-bad motor mount replaced on drivers side
-Not one, but TWO bad harmonic balancers - the 2nd one must've been faulty from the factory because none of the accessories are misaligned, and no belt shredding
-paint chipping off the radio buttons - fixed with a black sharpie - ;-)
-synthetic mobile1 oil change
-ground effects molding clip replaced
-wheel reconditioned - previous owner curbed the hell out of it

(edited, forgot a few)
My current issues:
-reverse gear solenoid isn't working anymore - Last time I tried to go into 5th, i hit reverse instead and yeah... it crunched badly
-anti-roll bar bushings appear to be on their way out. - Whenever i go over uneven bumps, i get side to side clunking. i haven't inspected them yet, but this is certainly the symptoms.
-minor piston slap in the morning - I've learned to live with it, it is an LS motor after all
-Drive shaft clunks a bit when torque is released on it. (i.e. - disengaging the clutch while moving forward in 1st) - this is another thing I've learned to live with. This 'parade clunk' is more of a feature of this car, rather than a problem I guess.

The car has a high cost of ownership so far.. lol

hey stealth, must have missed your newbie post. but just dropping a second welcome! lol, let me know if you want to try and meet up before the 17th or if your still planning on going? and as far as seeing any V's in orlando, i have only seen them at the dealer.... but I also only drive mine probably once a week. and i have to agree with JimmyH it is all worth it once you get it all up to spec. :)
