My wife popped a brake line to a rear wheel... Because it was so rotted I am replacing the whole thing.. I had to cut a hose that is over the rearend... Its just imposable to get off any other way... This hose is something that no one had on the shelf.. 3 days was the fastest I can get it... I was doing some searching on the web to see if I could get a good price on them...I have a 94 and 95 and my wife has a 94 and my son has a 94... so keeping spare parts is what I do...All the parts store said they could get it for $19- $20 range.. But then I ran across this and thought you could get a good laff...

Cutting the hose was questionable practice. There is a clip at the cross member which you pry off, It fits in a groove in the hose fitting. Then you can tap the fitting out of the cross member. It is hard to work in that area, especially if you have big hands and removing the line from the fitting is tedious work. You can only move the nut 1/8 turn at a time, but it do-able.

take the clip off ....sure if you have one of these cars see if you can even see it ....or take a long screwdriver an even touch it... but you won't even know if you are touching it if you can't see it... Maybe if you take the rear end out...Oh wait .. you can see the one in the front, but what about the one thats in back of that....

I'm not sure about the later production cars, but I have replaced these in several of my '77 - '79 s. The hose has a hex which fits into location in the crossmember and is held in position by the spring clip. I agree it is tight quarters and a difficult place to get to, let alone get your head into a position so you can visually see what is there, but with a lot of patience, it can be done.

Your 77-79 are doable .. I did my 81 , that is the same... But the way they put these two hoses for the anti lock system...trying to take off the first hose clip it hits the second hose and don't want to come off and the second hose clip can't be seen till the first hose is off... When I put it back I don't know if I will be able to even get the clip on the new hose...

Okay, I see, they created a solution for a problem which didn't exit. :cool2:
